DESPITE THE AGONY, THE pain, and the sadness that began to slowly trickle throughout Juniper Hale, it soon quickly disappeared when Finnick Odair came to visit her a few days after. And as he went to Juniper's bedside, there was unbelievable happiness in his eyes as he clutched the woman's hand.

"What?" Juniper managed to croak out as she winced. The pain in her ribs was numbed as they healed, but the thoughts in her head were still present. "Why are you so happy?"

But Finnick just shrugged as he beamed, saying, "Nothing."

"Don't do that." Juniper scoffed. "What's wrong? Why are you so happy?"

"... I asked Annie to marry me."

The torture, the suffering, and the sorrow flew out of the woman's system as she blinked once, twice, and then three times. The thoughts that ran wild in her head calmed down as a smile slowly spread across Juniper's lips, letting out a breath of disbelief and shock.

"What?" Juniper asked as she felt herself become slightly lighter. "You asked Annie to what?"

"I asked Annie to marry me," Finnick repeated. "And she said yes."

"Of course she's going to say yes!" Juniper chuckled as she immediately brought the man into a tight embrace, rubbing his back up and down as she laughed. "Of course she said yes!"

Finnick was going to get married. Finnick Odair was going to get married to Annie Cresta. They were going to get married. Disbelief filled Juniper as she thought the same sentence over — Finnick was going to get married — and over. He was going to get married. He was going to be a husband and Annie a wife.

Finnick Odair and Annie Cresta were going to get married

And Juniper supposed they deserved it. After everything, they needed the happiness in their lives, to know that they would always be with each other. As Juniper had thought many times, if anyone deserved to be happy, it would be Annie and Finnick. They deserved it. They needed it. They were going to get married.

But Juniper wasn't the only elated one. The announcement of the wedding seemed to put District Thirteen into a whirl and the Hale woman gathered they didn't have much holidays at all. But, within the next few days, it became very aware that there were differences about what weddings meant in the Capitol and Thirteen.

Coin, the leader of the rebellion that Juniper was yet to meet, figured weddings to be two people signing a piece of paper and being assigned new living quarters. Plutarch thought weddings meant hundreds of people dressed in their finest clothes for a three-day celebration. According to Lucy, the two haggled over the details. Alma Coin rejected the idea of a dinner, entertainment, and alcohol, causing Plutarch Heavensbee to yell, "What's the point of the propo if no-one's having any fun!"
