CHAPTER 24

Maya felt giddy, in fact, too giddy. It was all because of Richard. Even though his lips just landed on her head, she seemed to burst due to kilig. It might’ve been just a simple gesture, but to her it’s worth more than gold. It just shows that even though he’s not the same Richard, his feelings might’ve been still the same.

She texted her mother the moment she was inside her condo unit, telling her that there’s someone tagging along with her. Her mom asked her if that friend of hers is staying until Sunday as well. And when Maya said yes, her mom said that her friend can have a sleepover in their house. Her mom immediately called when she finally informed them that her friend is a guy.

“Boyfriend mo, Maya?” Teresita asked as soon as Maya picked up her phone.

“Nay! Kalma lang po. Hindi ako buntis.” Maya said. She got nervous when Teresita mentioned the pregnancy thing.

“Sigurado ka, nak?”

“Opo. One hundred percent sure po.” She assured Teresita.

“Hay naman Maya!” Teresita sighed on the other line.

She said, stifling her laugh.

Teresita paused. “Eh ano bang rason at sasamahan ka pa niyan pauwi mo dito? Kaya mo naman ah. Sasakay ka lang ng bus, tapos jeep. Oh, anong hirap dun?”

“Nay, ano po eh ..” she gulped. “Umaatake po ulit yung phobia ko eh.”

“Ganun ba?” Maya sensed her mother worry. “Ganito, magpapacheck-up ka bukas dito, ha?

Ingat kayo bukas.”

..

Richard arrived at her unit at precisely 7:30 in the morning. When Maya opened the door, smiles flew on their faces at the sight of each other like it has been years since they last met.

“Good morning!” Richard greeted her.

“G-good morning.” Maya greeted back. They both went in and Maya went to grab one duffel bag.

“Bakit ang dami mong dala?” Richard said.

“Pasalubong ko ‘to. Ang tagal ko na kayang di nakakauwi.” Maya said, then she walked. “Tara na.”

She stopped when she felt Richard’s hand on hers. “Ako na’ng magdadala.” Then he smiled at her. “I’m already a burden. So let me.” He grabbed her bag and left. When Maya saw that he’s already meters away, she finally squealed. She just could not contain her kilig anymore.
