"Lilith, are the monsters real?" Ivy sniffled watching her sister tuck her in for the night.  That night was perfect for telling tales of monsters, a thunderstorm slowly approaching beyond the safe walls of the castle.

Lilith smiled softly, "Ramses tried scaring you, didn't he?" Her sister nodded in response, gripping the blanket for protection.

The princess sighed, "Don't be scared.. They may be frightening, but all of them are here to protect us. Fear can ensure protection, and as long as you stay within the boundaries of the kingdoms and the village, you will be safe."

"So they are real?" Ivy asked, her lips quivering.

Lilith nodded, "They are.. When the Gods created us, they gave us the mountains in the north, but what protects us if ships come across the sea?"

Her sister couldn't answer, so Lilith continued, "They gave us ruthless pirates to monitor the seas and sirens to drown our enemies.  If somehow ships make it past those dangers, the trespassers shall face death from the giants ruling the lands."

"Is it true they eat people?" Ivy gulped.

Her sister nodded, "They say, if you cross the wide river and make it through the woods, you may begin to smell the scent of death. If you do, you're dead already. They like to chew you up while you're still breathing or they crush you in their fist and let your blood pour down their throats. They can not speak, so you can not reason with them or bribe them. The gods gave them no tongues to learn or speak any language. All they know is kill."

Lilith's eyes shot open along with her mouth, gasping for air. The fall to the ground knocked her out briefly, and the dust in the air was suffocating her. After a moment, she finally managed to fill her lungs with oxygen as she rolled onto her stomach.  She could hear the faint screams of those horses and the loud, thunderous roar of the titan.  She looked up and slowly got to her feet. Her ears ringing; she could feel a cold, thick liquid roll down her nose and into her mouth.  The taste of iron was potent along with the smell of death which had completely consumed the atmosphere around her.

"Jon!?" She coughed, her eyes adjusted and she glanced around, not seeing a single person.

She fell to her knees continuously coughing up the dust in her lungs, her eyes finally meeting a pair of small green eyes. Honora's son, Ben.

He was crouching under a small ledge of the mountain, acting as a shield from the monster's view. She crawled over to him, his head shaking violently.

"Are you hurt, Ben?" She checked him for any scratches before she spotted a child beside him as well. This one was a little girl, her arm missing. Her eyes were barely open, she breathed in and out slowly. By the looks of how much blood she lost, she wasn't going to make it.

"We have to go," Lilith gently reached for the boy.

"We can't leave her.. Please," Ben cried out. Lilith sighed and obliged.

"Can you run?" She asked the boy.

He shook his head, "My leg is broken." Lilith's job became ten times harder.

She held his face in her hands, "Get on my back, I'll carry her. Do not let go." She hoisted the boy on her back, making sure he held on tightly before scooping the young girl in her arms. She ran as fast as she could.
