I manage to beat Hanna before she gets out of the rover. I climb in the passenger seat and buckle up grinning at her.

"In a hurry already?" She teases pulling away from the curb and driving towards the lake house twenty minutes away.

"Yes. I love that it's so beautiful out tonight!" I croon sticking my head out the window.

"You're crazy." She sighs shaking her head at me.

"We have less than a month left at school. Then we're sophomores and we won't be at the bottom of the food chain anymore." I state looking at her sideways.

"When have you ever been the bottom of the food chain?" She laughs turning the radio up. Matchbox twenty blasts the speakers and we sing and dance like fools.

"Whose the one that is old enough to drive as a freshman?" I tease.

"I failed kindergarten twice. Sue me." She laughs.

We banter back and forth the entire drive. The weird afternoon forgotten completely.

We park in the grass at Miles and head inside. It's crazy already with people drinking and swimming and of course making out.

"You made it!" Miles grins walking over to us and putting his arm around our shoulders.

"Do we ever not?" I giggle hugging him.

Miles has been a friend since elementary school. He's a jock but he's so kind to everyone. He makes us all feel like a community. Even though he's two years older than us he acts our age which makes it better.

"Come this way. Get a drink. Play some pong. Take a swim ladies. The world is your oyster tonight!" He shouts.

I take his advice and mix a drink for Hanna and I to share. We're not big on drinking and driving so this will be our only one.

We make it to the beer pong table and Hanna freezes. I follow her gaze and see Alec playing.

I nod and she nods chugging the drink and following me. He arches a brow at her but doesn't say anything.

The game starts and we kick his ass. A win already for Hanna.
