Chapter Ten
The heat crippled our skin. We are laying on the beach while Mystery of Love by Sufjan Stevens is playing on the background. We were lucky to spend our summer vacation like this. Yesterday was our moving up ceremony. I was the first honor and I was really happy that Silvius and I ended our little rivalry and formed something more...special.
"This is the life I would like to live," Harriet murmured beside me.
We were both on the picnic blanket by the beach, under the hot rays of the sun and the cool breath of the summer breeze. The boys are nowhere to be found.
"I bet they won't catch a single bite," Imogen smirked while reading her book.
"I agree. Ivo sucks at fishing even when his family has a sardine factory," Harriet chuckled and they both proceeded to mock the boys.
So I got up and when to one of the recliners by the shade. I am wearing my yellow one piece suit and my sunglasses. Today isn't about having fun. We are here today to relax. Especially Imogen since she won't be seeing the seas or the greenery anytime because she will be continuing her education in the city. It makes me sad when I remember that Silvius will also be leaving this place next year. Better make the best moments while he's still here.
"I never thought you'll actually catch one," I yawned.
Imogen came at me with a red face from laughing so hard. "They bought from the market, Court. Don't praise them too much."
The boys went grumpy because of Imogen's jokes. Still, that day went unsurprisingly great. We did a lot of fun stuff, memories that we will someday look back upon.
This is the summer dream that I imagined. The rest of the summer was a wild ride. We bid goodbye to Imogen when she and Silvius went to the city. Although Silvius will come back, I'm still sad because I will not see him for months.
Mortem also went to his college in the middle of summer.
I don't have to do anything but to tally how many sack of harvest we had.
I smiled as I watch the farmers who are busy attending the product below. This is the life that I am born to, might as well enjoy it.
I've known every crevice of our little town because I am so adventurous as a child.
I sat on the stacks of hay and decided to let the force of gravity carry my weight by laying down. I don't know how long I lay there, just thinking and humming spring melodies.
I was confused to see him, it must be my eyes playing tricks but as he inched closer, si Silvius nga iyon.
"Why are you here so early?" nagtataka kong tanong.
Ang akala ko ay mananatili siya sa siyudad hanggang matapos ang summer break but it hasn't been a month since he left with Imogen tapos ngayon ay narito na siya sa harap ko!
He grinned and sat beside me.
"I missed you. Did you miss me?" tanong niya habang nasa mga labi niya pa rin ang kanyang malapad na ngisi.
"I did." My face heated.
"I missed you so much, Court. I asked my grandfather if I could go back here and be with you kasi wala naman akong ginagawa doon. And he agreed! Sinabi rin kasi ni Daddy na mas masaya ako kung nandito ako so my grandfather never hesitated to let me go home."
He was so enthusiastic that afternoon while we are watching the workers tying up the rice stalks. The wind whispered her approval of our solitude. I placed my head on Silvius' shoulder as he continues to retell his adventures in the city.
"Sinamahan kong mag-enroll si Imogen sa uni. I saw my grandfather's picture displayed on the hall. I never knew that he's a swimmer and a member of the swim team."
Marami siyang naging kwento at hindi iyon maubos-ubos. Even when my father came, he had a little talk with him. When I woke up, I am sitting on our pick-up truck. My father is driving tapos kaming dalawa ni Silvius ay siksikan sa front seat. Nagreklamo ako dahil hindi nila ako ginising but they both just laughed.
A beautiful restaurant owner had invited Daddy to eat at their newly opened restaurant and we all decided to eat there.
We left the house at quarter to seven. Careen sat at the front seat while Silvius and I stood on the back of the truck.
"I wish everyday is as peaceful as this."
I agreed. I wish everything will be alright. I wish the stars will align with us. I wish to be with him forever.
"Vios, you know I think I change my mind."
"Huh?"
"I'm thinking of giving us a try. I don't care about what will happen to us in the end but what's important to me right now is taking the risk and owning up my feelings for you."
He never spoke so I looked at him and saw that he's looking at me, wide-eyed. The moon beams on his beautiful face and I can see how his eyes glistened like the brightest stars in the middle of the night.
"This is not the romantic place I imagined, Court. I never thought that the back of a pick-up truck could ever become special. Not until you made it to be one."
I believe that any place is special when you are sincere about your actions and decisions.
"Don't just focus on the back of my father's pick-up truck, Silvius. Look around, there's the moon overlooking us from above. The stars are twinkling in delight. And we have the whole enchanting darkness around us. This is magical, Silvius. Everywhere with you is magic."
"I think I'm in love with you already, Courtney Astrid."
"I am sure that I am inlove with you too, Silvius Alistair."
That night was the most wonderful night I spent my entire life. Silvius and I made a promise of forever under the watchful gaze of the heavenly bodies.
"We will continue to grow and flourish our love for each other. Today just marks that we are now binded together."
We giggled and started singing just to celebrate our little union. May time stop its pace and just let us live through this memory where we felt the utmost happiness.

Hello!
This will probably be the last chapter of Whispers of the Wind. I know the ending is rushed but I am not planning on updating this story anymore because I'm tinatamad na chars. Anyway, I really don't have the energy to write about Silvius and Courtney anymore. Maybe in another life, the author who will write them will give justice to their love story and continue it hanggang sa exciting part.I've started this book years ago and I'm finally finishing it today. I'm so sorry if it is rushed. I'm giving you an open ending, guys. It's up to you and your imagination na lang.
Thank you for being with me through this (tough) journey. Today, we are finally closing a new book. Hoping to see you again next time!
Love,
Jannie
