You are cordially invited to attend a Poet's Retreat,

It is remotely located, I am afraid, you will have to hike,

We like to maintain secrecy, so in camera we meet,

At a push you could ride a goat or use a mountain bike.

We have some excellent speakers to give you lots of tips,

Advice on Rhyme and Meter and all Poetic Forms,

Just bring your own pens, pads and a supply of paper clips,

All bizarre dress is welcome, you don't need to conform.

The day begins at 5am, much earlier than it ought,

We meet in the Temple and meditate random thoughts.

Should this cause you a problem and you wish to complain,

We have an expert counsellor, listening is her game.

Then breakfast in the refectory, where we eat our food,

Served by our surly waitresses, don't know where we got them from,

Be warned, if provoked they can be feisty and extremely rude,

So just make sure you don't try anything inappropriate on.

After breakfast you can take a stroll around the gardens,

You will see such beauty there, natural inspiration,

Because then the tasks of the day begin to harden,

You have 10 minutes only to write a poetic dedication.

Those who run the workshops are very strict you know,

They expect you to pay attention to their wisdom,

So don't dare fall asleep, they will wake you and go

On to abuse your lassitude and ban you from their fiefdom.

If you pay attention you will doubtless improve your skills,

Meet other crazy poets and put the world to rights,

It only costs £ 5000, we have to pay our bills,

The hardship will be good for you, you may see your name in lights.

So book your place immediately they will  be snapped up soon,

You will expand your poetic horizons, have an exciting time,

This retreat will help, if you're down, to get over the moon,

Don't hesitate to visit us soon, that would be such a crime.
