Chapter 9: A Dangerous Game

—Evelyn's POV—

"You have been weird all night, what's up?" Kyla asks as we walk inside to grab drinks. She pours me a shot and slides it over making me smile.

After gagging from the taste I put my head in my hands groaning, "This vacation was supposed to be carefree," I tell her as Talia and Freya walk inside.

"This doesn't look like pregaming," Freya says jumping onto the counter with pretzels in her hand, "why does it look like she's contemplating diving face-first into the shallow end?" She asks making me let out a breathy laugh.

"Something might have happened last night....and it's kind of confusing," I tell them looking out the window. The guys are standing around the pool with beers in their hands.

"What did you and Ethan.....?" Talia asks with suggestive eyes.

"No, she wouldn't look like that if she had sex. She normally has that after-sex glow," Kyla says making me furrow my eyes brows.

"You can tell when I have sex?" I ask as she takes a shot.

"I'm your best friend. Of course, I can tell," she says like it's obvious. I shrug my shoulders and groan when the door opens making me jump.

"You ladies alright?" Ethan asks walking to the fridge with an empty beer. I give him a small smile while the girls just tell him to get out. He puts his hands up in defense before slipping out of the door.

"I may have kissed someone last night," I whisper making them all gasp.

"If not Ethan then who? I didn't know you were into anyone else," Talia says as they all lean on the table intrigued.

"I didn't even kiss him. We were kind of talking and then I turned my head and he kissed me," I tell them as I play with the end of my dress.

"Tell us. I can't handle the suspense," Freya says. I mumble his name and they all think I say Chip making me lose it.

"As much as I've come to love Chip. No," I say with a small laugh, "It was Chris," I whisper making them all widen their eyes.

"So...like how was it? Did you like it?" Kyla asks as I pour another shot.

"That's the problem......it was probably one of the best kisses I've had in a while," I tell them. They start giggling and making us fake scenarios as I sit in my dread, "But I have this whole thing with Ethan. And I like Ethan. He's a great guy...but," I ramble as Kyla cuts me off.

"Now you're thinking about Chris," she says.

I nod my head as they give me sympathetic eyes, "Why did he have to make it confusion?" I whisper fake crying.

"If that's the worst of your problems that's a pretty good trip in my books," Kyla says making me think about it more.

"I guess it's not the end of the world but I just don't want to play with them," I state.

"I think that's the problem here," Talia says making me realize the phrasing of my statement.

"I'm not gonna just sleep with both of them. Do you think I should tell Ethan he kissed me or just move on?" I ask.

The three of them look at each other for a little, "I think you should. Let Ethan know that he has competition," Talia says.

"I think it will do more harm than good. It's not like you and Ethan are a couple. You're having fun and he's having fun," Freya says.

"I think it's up to you. Do you think Ethan needs to know?" Kyla says making me groan again as they laugh.

"This conversation isn't helping but now you know what's going on. So if you see me running away all night it's cause I'm hiding from both of them," I said clapping my hands onto the table.
