Chapter 15: boat day

—Evelyn's POV—

"The sun feels amazing," Talia groans as we lay out on the top deck. The three of us eagerly agree as a shadow casts over us.

"Please don't let it be Chip," Freya whispers as someone scoffs. I open my eyes and turn my head seeing Chip with an offended expression.

"What's up, Chip Chip?" I ask as I turn onto my stomach.

He gives me a smile as Kyla just covers her eyes with her arm, "We are shooting a hide-and-seek video on the boat. Simon wanted to know who would like to be in it," he says squatting down so we are at eye level.

I turn my head to Kyla and she shrugs her shoulders saying it sounds like fun. Freya and Talia opt out and we quickly walk inside to grab our coverups. Chip screams to whoever is playing that we are joining. I turn the corner and bump into someone making a camera almost fall to the floor, "Shit sorry," I murmur as I look up seeing Chris. He holds onto my waist so I don't fall and I smile as he grins down at me.

"Morning," he says making me realize we really haven't spoken since early last night, "Would you want to hide together?" He asks as I eagerly nod my head. The two of us walk into the main room and wait for the others to set everything up. It takes nearly a half an hour and everyone's been given a go-pro.

Ethan introduces the video, announcing that JJ is the seeker. Chris and I try to scheme some places to hide but everyone's screaming. I don't even hear JJ yelling at us to go until Chris is running away. He calls my name and I chase after him down the hall. I try to contain my laughter as he drags me into a random closet at the other end of the boat. This place is huge I would hate to hide alone.

"Kind of a tight squeeze," I whisper as my hands rest on his chest. The camera is propped on the shelf above us, "Woah, is that a camera, or are you just happy to see me?" I ask as he loses it. His hand happily raises the camera showing us in the dark cupboard. There's a knock at the door and it quickly opens revealing Ethan.

"Room for one more?" He asks shoving himself in. My body is pressed more aggressively against Chris's. Ethan's hands fall on my waist making me suck in my breath, "Just enough space," he whispers as I look at Chris's face.

"You couldn't find another spot?" He asks his friend as I stand in the middle with my head practically on Chris's shoulder.

He points his camera at Chris, "Now that wouldn't be as fun," he says. An awkward silence falls between us before we hear yelling from the main deck.

"How was your night last night?" Ethan whispers and I can practically hear the smirk in his voice.

Chris looks down at me and I can feel his chest tense from underneath me, "It was a good night to celebrate Chip," he says.

"Yeah, definitely did some kind of celebrating," he says with amusement in his tone, "Right, Evelyn?" He asks making my throat dry up instantly.

"Last night was fun," I whisper as the door flies open with JJ pointing his camera at us with a sinister smile.

"You guys are so loud," he says laughing. I quickly get out leaving the guys to go get out after, "Do you know where anyone else is?" He asks.

"Not at all," Chris says walking out of the room with him. When I hear their voices retreating down the hallway I turn to Ethan punching his shoulder. He shifts back rubbing his arm looking at me like I'm crazy.

"What are you doing?" I ask as he looks genuinely confused.

"It's all in good fun," he says as I frown.

"Yeah, but I don't know...I don't like you flaunting what we do like that," I tell him. Maybe this wasn't the best idea. I know it's all in good fun but...I feel dirty now.
