A Connection and an Argument

You looked around Lloyd Garmadon's bedroom.

Other than the swords, it just looked like a normal bedroom. It smelled like what Lloyd probably smelled like: cinnamon, gingerbread, and a little bit of peppermint. The bed was messy and unmade, there were posters on the wall, a bit of junk on the floor. The only thing that stood out was this... random fishing pole.

"Looks pretty usual to me," you muttered. To be honest, you had been hoping that the Green Ninja's bedroom would be... I don't know, cooler?

You walked around, trying to find something out of the ordinary. Come on, he's a ninja. He must have something weird in his room.

You brushed against something. Like glass?

You turned to see what it was. It was a vase. And it was falling. You reached out to grab it, but it was too late. The vase was now broken.

Oh no.

Oh, no.

Oh, sh- snap!

You were panicking. What should you do? You broke something that belongs to LLOYD GARMADON.

"Um, uh..." you scrambled to pick up the pieces, trying not to cut yourself.

You heard footsteps. Crap! No one could see you broke this!

"Wait. What am I doing?" you asked yourself. After all, telekinesis wasn't your only power. You stopped scrambling, went to a distance, and made all the pieces float in the air.

You imagined the pieces unbroken, as they were. Atoms rejoining together.

The pieces glowed yellow as they reshaped themselves. After about thirty seconds, the vase was as it was before you broke it. You had just set it down on the table when you heard someone opening the door. You swiveled around and tried not to make it seem like you were not being suspicious.

"Everything alright? I thought heard something break." Garmadon glanced around Lloyd's room, as if trying to find the object. You put up your shopkeeper facade and smiled nervously.

"No, no, everything's alright," you assured. "I just knocked this vase over by accident, but I caught it before it could break. See?" You pointed to the hopefully normal-looking vase. After looking at you with an unreadable expression, he chuckled.

"Thank you for not letting it break."

"No need to thank me, it doesn't belong to me." Now leave.

...

He wasn't leaving. WHY WASN'T HE LEAVING.

Instead, he came into the room, sat down on Lloyd's bed, and beckoned you to come sit next to him. Struggling to hide your fear and annoyance, you did.

"So, Glayde. My brother tells me you're a shopkeeper. How nice." He looked at you expectantly.

What was his game here?

He hadn't seen you floating the vase, right?

"Yes, it's very nice. I have a good employee and good business," you replied.

Was that enough to end the conversation?

Well, apparently not, because he said, "You're my son's age, yet you're much more responsible than he is. Just look at how he keeps his living quarters!" You giggled.

"Well, to be fair, he must have a lot on his plate, trying to get the ninja back together, what with the loss of the Ice Ninja," you commented. Garmadon suddenly went quiet. You realized what you said. Crap.

"Oh, I'm sorry!" you apologized profusely. "I- I didn't think about what I was saying, and-"

"It's alright," Garmadon said somberly. "I know what you meant. The loss of Zane has been... hard for him. However, it's not an excuse for not cleaning his room." You stifled a laugh. "But I must say, he's been taking it much better than the rest of the ninja. In the sense that he still comes to training. I'm proud of him."

He turned to look at you. He seemed to be searching your face. What was he looking for?

"This was a nice conversation, Glayde," he said. You were partly relieved that the conversation was over.

"Indeed it was," you responded. He smiled at you and left the room once more.

You decided not to touch anything after that.

Elsewhere...

"Kai, back here!" Lloyd waved him over. Kai sighed defeatedly and went to Lloyd's booth.

He was not expecting to see Cole and Jay.

"Jay? Cole?" Jay was watching Kai angrily while Cole was staring hungrily at the food on the conveyor belt next to him. Cole turned around to see Kai and scoffed.

"Ha! You too?" Cole said, before going back to gawk at the food.

"The runt tricked us all," Jay commented. Kai sat down next to Cole and reached for a piece of sushi. Lloyd grabbed his arm to prevent him from doing so.

"We talk first, then eat," Lloyd stated. Kai moved his arm away from the food annoyedly.

"Ugh, trust me, do you know what kind of restraint I've had to have staring at all this noodle goodness?" Cole asked him. "You're late!"

"Make it quick," Kai grumbled.

"I know without Zane things have been different, but we have to move on. The reason I brought you all here is because..." Lloyd trailed off.

"Maybe we should add someone new to our team." Everyone reacted as Lloyd probably expected them to.

"A new ninja?"

"ARE YOU CRAZY?"

"Come on, Zane's irreplaceable!"

Lloyd sighed. "I cared for him too," he began, avoiding their gazes, "but now it's time to care about this team."

"Maybe without Zane there is no team." Kai crossed his arms and turned away from them. After that, everyone lowered their heads in silent assent.

A/N:

I got the idea of Lloyd's smell (cinnamon, gingerbread, and a bit of peppermint) from the artist @miyusketches! Here's the link to her Tumblr:
