You tiptoed up behind them, trying to get a better look at what was going on. Unfortunately, you had stepped on a creaky piece of wood. Instantly the attention of all the other ninja and Garmadon was diverted to you. Lloyd was the first one to speak to you.

"Mind your own business," he said angrily. The earth ninja, Cole, looked at Lloyd with a startled expression.

"Lloyd, what's with the attitude? She didn't do anything," Cole stated.

"Yeah. She probably just heard the noise and came to see what's up," Jay added. Lloyd glared at both of them.

"It's a long story, but the bottom line is that she can't be trusted. So, go back to whatever you were doing, Glayde."

Ouch.

Well, you weren't going to go without asking Garmadon about your grandfather.

"Hey, Sensei Garmadon," you began, "I had a question for you." Garmadon nodded for you to continue.

"Did you ever know an elemental master named Magnus?" Garmadon thought for a bit.

"Magnus... Magnus... oh, yes! Magnus! He was the Master of-"

You were interrupted by Clouse and a rather loud boat horn.

"We're here. Welcome to Chen's Island."

You hadn't even noticed that we'd arrived. Under any other circumstances, this island would be breathtakingly beautiful.

But you weren't here for the sights.

"Woah," said Cole, coming up next to you. "This island looks pretty neat."

"Yeah, maybe it would," you muttered. Cole gave you a confused glance.

"I mean, yeah! It does!" you agreed hastily. Cole chuckled. He observed you for a moment. Then he stuck out his hand.

"I'm sorry about Lloyd. I don't know what's up with him, but he didn't make a very good impression. So, would you like to try again?"

You giggled. "Sure." You shook Cole's hand. He had a strong grip.

Just then, you heard Jay say the most wholesome and stupid thing you've ever heard.

"You know, you should never swear. It's a sign of weak verbal skills."

You and Cole broke out into a fit of laughter. Once you were both able to calm down, Cole smiled at you.

"I should get back to the others. It was nice meeting you, Glayde. That's a nice name, by the way," he said. You felt your face grow warm.

"Oh- uh- th-thanks!" you stammered, growing flustered. Cole waved to you one last time and joined the other ninja.

...

Huh.
