SORRY, HEART."they're married? weren't they best friends for over a decade?"
"you think that's sweet? remember what happened to them years ago. the murders, the suicide, i heard she was in love with one of suspect, and now that he died she married his best friend!"
"really? i once heard he proposed to her infront of the guy's grave! that was horrifying!"
"each person in that group of friends are weird."
"and the group of friends that was with her? one of them went missing, heard that he's working out of the country"
"that's bad. we used to hear noises of them every morning. this town is so quiet"
"that girl's probably the problem"
those were some rumours speading around the town. elders had this kind of topic every morning when they were buying groceries. when they were walking their dogs. when they were having breakfast. and even when they accidentally bumped onto each other on the streets.
wanted to know if they were true?
well, they actually were.
and seulbyul herself, she agreed to most part especially the one where she was the problem.
and the marriage? true as well.
it has been a year since both of them were married. it has been a year since renjun legally adopted naeun and became her father.
but still, things weren't that great at home. it was normal, but not as normal as a happy family should've been.
both seulbyul and naeun settled at renjun's house, and she decided to sell her old house and live there. she chose to sell it to jeno, though she didn't know when will he pay the deposit even though he had been living there for more than half a year.
however, even when living under the same roof, as legally husband and wife, a legal family, they were awfully awkward. they never had an actual conversations together, and when they did it was just about work and school.
there were times where renjun tried to keep up a conversation, but failed anyway. as if both of them were never friends before getting married, didn't know each other at all.
renjun was the closest to naeun, this house would turn in a very quiet museum if it weren't for naeun's giggles echoing the house. most of them were because of renjun.
plus, both renjun and seulbyul didn't share a room. seulbyul will crash into naeun's room every night, and if it were renjun's turn to put naeun to sleep, she would sleep in the guest room, which was jeno's former room. sometimes renjun did offer her to sleep in his room since it was more comfortable, and he'd sleep in the guest room, but she refused.
it has been a year, and they barely act like how a family should work.
it was a normal Tuesday, and naeun had school. seulbyul had woken up early to make breakfast. she got out of her room after getting ready for the day and walked through naeun's room.
that was when she heard giggles coming from the room.
renjun must have woken up earlier than her, as usual. ignoring the happy bonding time between a father and a daughter, seulbyul walked downstairs and grabbed some pieces of bread. she looked through her notifications and didn't forget to remind jeno to open the cafe at 9 sharp.
