the next day was even better. naeun had been chasing renjun at every corner of the beach, since renjun told her that if she could catch him, he'd buy more toys after the trip. but guess naeun is losing anyway, though she looked more excited and the prize wasn't an issue. all she wanted was to have fun with renjun.
seulbyul just watched them, slowly walking on the sand with no slippers on. she had her yellow dress and a beach hat on her, matching the pretty atmosphere right now. and renjun, he wasn't aware that his wife was there.
until he saw her, and stopped running. to the point that naeun had caught him, it was like his mind had shifted to another dimension.
all because he saw his wife, in a dress with the wind blows her hair beautifully. he didn't know if he wanted to melt or just faint right now. for seulbyul, she didn't catch him staring, his eyes filled with amazement and awe. but instead of shrugging it off, she held onto the eye contact. and it felt like forever, until-
"caught you!" naeun's 4th scream woke renjun up from his daydream. he immediately picked up naeun and ruffled the kid's hair.
"okay, you win! you got me" he chuckled, causing naeun to cheer. the guy then walked towards his wife, still amazed by her presence that day. maybe it because yellow was his favourite colour, or could it be his favourite colour was worn by his favourite person as well?
"i dont think I'm swimming today but.. we can go for walks" she said, looking down at her feet. renjun was in his euphoric state he could jump around being so happy. naeun immediately agreed, but renjun then put her down.
"how about you go and build more sandcastles?"
"but i want to walk with aunt seulbyul too!"
receiving an understanding stare from her father, naeun widened her eyes, catching the message from renjun's eyes. she then gave seulbyul a huge grin, making her totally confused.
"naeun can join us-"
"nevermind, the sandcastle is much more interesting. I'll be here!" naeun said, sitting down with her toys.
her words caused seulbyul to shake her head. like father, like daughter.
-
"i think they're sending us lunch, but I don't know when-" renjun shoved his hands inside his beach shorts, while seulbyul just the sea breeze hit her face. both of them were walking at the end of waves, the coldness of their feet gave them some sense of calmness inside themselves. seulbyul loved these kind of walks. but with renjun, it felt different.
"thank you for this trip, renjun" she started a new conversation, and renjun looked at her. his hair was blowing as well, causing it to look slightly messy. but he looked good, seulbyul couldn't deny. for how many times he had been an asshole in her life, he looked different after marriage. she wondered why.
"anytime. forget about the company, i can afford you guys more trips after this. just name it!"
"if we keep on going for trips then who's going for work?" she chuckled, and renjun's heart literally melted. he replied with a soft grin, and rubbed the back of his neck.
"by the way, you woke up earlier than usual" renjun said, and seulbyul shrugged in reply.
"I'd be lying if us sleeping in the same bed wasn't awkward."
"did you have enough sleep though?" worries started filling his voice. if she couldn't have her usual sleep routine because of his presence next to him, he'd despise himself for that.
"surprisingly..." she breathed out, looking at a few birds flying across the sea.
"it was the most peaceful night I've ever slept on. lovely night" she blurted out, her lips formed a thin like after she spoke. fixing her hat a little, she kept on walking.
