"i came here as soon as i can"
"thanks for... coming?" renjun crossed his arms at the sight of jeno standing infront of the villa at 9pm. the incident happened literally 6 hours ago. even if he wanted to help, renjun and his family are going back home tomorrow. lee jeno didn't have to be here. especially after yangyang and his team had left.
but when naeun had already clung onto jeno's legs, renjun couldn't say no.
"I'm not going to be long, i'll just make a visit" he walked in without renjun letting him. rolling his eyes, renjun scoffed and followed him suit.
"seulbyul! you okay?" jeno walked towards seulbyul who was absolutely clueless at jeno's sudden appearance. he eyed his best friend from head to toe, scanning zero physical injuries and she looked exactly fine.
"you're okay? okay then. i'll be off"
"please do before i kick your ass" renjun said, and naeun hit her father's arm.
"no cursing! why can't uncle jeno visit us?"
"naeun, honey. he just wanted to check on your mom. he can do that tomorrow when he go back, and she's fine. she's completely fine. why does he need-"
"relax, bro. didn't know you were jealous"
jeno's reply caught him off guard. was he being jealous? was he obvious about being jealous? he looked at jeno, eyes slightly trembling. his mouth became agape, but words barely left his mouth.
"w..wait.. im not-"
"do you have any food? im starving" jeno smirked at the sight of renjun's trembling knees as he walked to the fridge.
"help yourself out. naeun, give him some pasta" seulbyul simply replied, covering herself with a blanket comfortably as she walked into her room. renjun smiled sightly at her, before he walked towards jeno to make sure that guy left them alone as quickly as possible.
"and you know, dad punched that guy and hugged aunt seulbyul after that!"
"naeun, i told you to stay in your room that time" renjun stared at naeun, and the girl shrugged mischievously. jeno chuckled, eating the pasta like he hadn't have any meals today.
"your relationship is progressing, i can see"
how much he was annoyed at jeno, he couldn't deny that part. it was real, after the confession, everything was in the skies. for him, at least. seulbyul smiled a lot at him, everything was fine. everything was great.
the sight of renjun grinning like a high school teen made jeno scoff in disbelief.
"oh god, you're so damn in love?!" jeno grinned, and renjun shushed him off.
"no worries, dude. i can deeply understand that." jeno replied simply, finishing his pasta before he stood up and walked to the sink.
leaning against the counter, renjun looked at jeno's back. "did jaemin know? it's been a while since i contacted him"
"define a while, renjun" jeno sighed, wiping his hands dry as he turned to look at renjun. the guy who was holding himself against the counter looked down, his lips formed a thin line.
"you haven't talked to him ever since your marriage, renjun. it was like 1 year ago. and jaemin didn't even bother to visit, i didnt know what is he doing right now out there" jeno said, shoving his hands inside his pockets. renjun just kept quiet, the huang renjun who usually argued about everything just to prove that he is right, is now silenced.
"i dont know, man. this isnt the friendship I've been dreaming for when we were 16"
"no one wanted this to happen. back then, no one wanted that to happen." renjun looked at jeno, who couldn't even look at him in the eyes anymore. it was none of their faults to begin with, and jeno knew that. it was seulbyul's sister, and not seulbyul. it never was seulbyul's fault.
