ONE WEEK LATER
seulbyul had her day off that day. she wanted to close the cafe but jeno refused to do so. she didn't care, he can knock himself out. who refused a paid leave, by the way? lee jeno.
making herself a cup of tea, she sat down at the dining table with her laptop on, casually surfing the internet. renjun went for work, naeun had school which both of them would be home any minute now. and renjun even said that he'd cook for dinner tonight so she just had to prepare for the ingredients. and then she had nothing to do.
the internet was a great place, but terrifying as well. posts and pictures of her online friends who went on solo vacations, who just got married, who went through a break up, who just had a kid, who was pursuing their degree. so many kinds of people.
and then there was seulbyul. she never posted about herself on the internet, let alone pictures of her and renjun. none of her online friends knew that she was married, and they never asked her about her life updates. as if they knew she was a loner, and that was it.
renjun wasn't the type to be posting a lot as well. hell, he even rarely uses the internet if it wasn't for work. he used to tell her that the internet can be a bad place for those who didn't know how to use it. it'll mess up your brain, badly.
maybe it was starting to get to her right now. seeing her friends living happily out there and to know that her life was never that great throughout these years. and the story was hers for her keep. the story was renjun's, jeno's, jaemin's, even naeun's.
her eyes landed on her wedding ring, the one that renjun bought right after the confession infront of donghyuck's grave. it was awkward, for someone like renjun to suddenly act like that. but all these time, she noticed how sincere he was in building their relationship together, then who was her to stop him from doing so?
she wanted to live a comfortable life as well, she wanted to smile a lot, she wanted to worry about nothing too. and she knew renjun can bring out the best of her. not now just yet, but one day.
looking back at her friend's post with her husband and a 2 year old kid, she smiled a little. there was nothing wrong with someone trying to live their life. all seulbyul had to do was think positively, right.
pft, it was easy to say.
her thoughts died when naeun opened the door, happily running to her with a paper in her hand.
"look! i got an A for math!"
seulbyul widened her eyes, taking the paper from naeun's hands to look at it for herself. it was a 96%. how smart does this kid have to be.
"wow! good job, naeun! I'm so proud of you!" she gave naeun a hug, and naeun giggled.
"dad says we're having pizza tomorrow to celebrate!"
"you can have anything you want" seulbyul smiled at the kid, pinching her cheek softly. naeun who was still happy with her result grabbed seulbyul's iPad just to facetime jeno. she was going to brag about it and make jeno buy her presents. that's naeun.
a few seconds later, the sight of renjun entering the house was seen by seulbyul. his tie was slightly loose, his sleeves were folded up in a very messy way, his hair was evenly as messy, his eyes looked so tired.
however, eventhough he wasn't in the state of being or feeling fine at that moment, when he eyes landed on her,
he smiled.
"hey..." she slowly approached him.
"you okay?"
"yeah.. im fine" renjun replied, slowly putting down his bag on the couch. eyes now on seulbyul, he stared at her as if it could recharge all of his energy that he had use during work.
