After the brief introduction with each other. Maverick decides to go out of his office and take the special guests with him to the airfield. One by one he looks at the hangars in the airfield. He then sees one of them closed and marked "Top Secret". The ship girls of Azur Lane try to get near to satisfy their curiosity. However two marines who are also part of the entourage. Have been left behind to serve as security for the hypersonic aircraft. Maverick speaks to Hondo about the fighter jet parked inside hangar number three. Just one hangar away from where his F/A-18E super hornet is currently parked inside.
Maverick: So you're telling me that the whole project is shelved by the air force. And they decide to pass it on to the navy?
Hondo: Yes that's right Maverick. Like I said earlier. On paper it's totally shelved. But in reality the developers and the joint chiefs of staff together with Pres. Harrison wants the navy to try to go for mach 10.
Maverick: (Whistling.) That's a pretty tough task to do. How do we know for certain that the jet won't blow upon reaching mach 10?
Hondo: It all really depends on you.
Maverick: Me? What's that supposed to mean?
Hondo: Ever since that accident. You've been pushing the envelope way too much. You almost died in one of your past sorties.
Maverick: Can you blame me? It was hard for me to get over Samantha's death.
Hondo: I know man. But you know that you have to let go of the past.
Maverick: Actually I just did. Three weeks ago when I decided to go back to the states.
Hondo: So that means you ain't going to be flying recklessly again.
Maverick: Heck no! I love buzzing them air traffic control towers.
Hondo: Well. Who am I to stop you anyway.
They reach the hangar where the hypersonic fighter jet is parked. The two marines salute at Maverick and his companions. They salute back to the two marines who are guarding the fighter jet that is designed to be used against the Sirens. And to finally end their reign of terror on the high seas. They open the hangar to reveal the hypersonic fighter jet. Maverick looks at the aircraft with astonishment written on his face. He suddenly can't hide his excitement to fly the jet.

Maverick: (whistling) Is this the fucking jet that I'm going to test fly.
Hondo: Yup! Think you can pull it off?
Maverick: Only one way to find out.
Hondo: Don't tell me that you're going to fly it now.
Maverick: Yup. Gimme a few minutes to get into my flight gear. And I will test this bad boy and see if it can really reach mach 10.
Hondo: Let's just do it three days from now. I want to see the whole base for a while.
Maverick: You're going to have be a little careful around here bro.
