I woke up in my room feeling strange after all the crying. I got up, showered, changed my clothes, and fixed my hair before heading to the meeting room.

Laswell, Price, and Keegan were sitting there. I asked, surprised, "What are you doing here?"

He looked at me coldly, "I'm here to assist in the operation against Shepherd."

I looked around at everyone. Price was present, but he seemed mentally distant. I sighed and took a seat.

Laswell began speaking, "According to our informants, Shepherd and his group of soldiers are located in Chicago, near where Makarov was."

I fiddled with a pen, and I noticed Keegan was watching me the whole time. I looked over at him, but he didn't look away.

I asked, "When does the operation start?"

Laswell replied, "You get one day off. By the way..." his voice softened, "there will be a farewell parade for the fallen."

I tightened my grip on the pen and bit my lip to suppress the tears.

She stood up and said, "I'll take my leave for now." We nodded, and she left the room. Keegan got up and said to me, "Wanna train?"

I looked at him and then glanced at Price, who gave me a reassuring gesture to go ahead and train.

I replied casually, "Why not?" Then I got up and followed Keegan.

His hands remained in his side pockets, and he never took off his mask. We walked to the training ground, and without warning, he kicked my foot, causing me to fall to the ground. He quickly got on top of me, holding my hands down so I couldn't move.

Angry, I asked, "Hey, what's the meaning of this?"

Keegan spoke coldly, "You left quite a mess in the room, not even bothering to clean up the blood on the floor."

Rolling my eyes, I felt annoyed. I swiftly swung my legs around his neck, pulling him backward. He looked surprised.

I freed myself and got back into a standing position. He stood up as well, saying amusedly, "Not bad."

I replied, "I don't feel like training. I just want to walk around and breathe some fresh air before the next war begins."

Keegan crossed his arms and stared intensely at me, coming closer, almost inches away. "Then let's go for a walk."

I asked, annoyed, "With you?"

Even though he wore a mask, I could sense a grin behind it. "With whom else? You don't have anyone else."

His words left me speechless, and I said, "Don't ever say that again."

He returned to his cold demeanor and said, "You have to accept that you've lost people, and they won't come back."

Indeed, he was right, but it was too early for those thoughts. Even if I forget the others, I couldn't forget Ghost. The bond I had with him was a tragedy, but still, I can't and won't forget him.

He looked at me and asked, "Is it because of Ghost?" My body froze at the mention of his name, and I looked down at the ground. He continued, "Was he your great love?"

I murmured, "Yes."

He nodded and said, "Come with me."

I followed him, and we arrived at a high place where we could see the entire base from above. He said, "Whenever I don't feel well, I come here."

I could see everything from up there. He sat down, and I sat next to him, resting my head on his upper arm, closing my eyes. I sought at least a bit of peace.

And I fell asleep.

Keegan's POV: He noticed how she rested her head on his upper arm and closed her eyes. For some reason, he already liked her when they arrested her.

He said softly, "Yn? Pff, you're sleeping."

We remained in that position for an hour before I carried her back to the base.
