The duo lay on Pit's unmade bed, side by side. Their game of Smash Bros was long forgotten, as Pit got tired of always being the one that lost. So they lay in comfortable silence until said boy turned to face his counterpart.

"Pittoo?"

Dark Pit closed his eyes. "Hmm?"

The brunette took a deep breath before speaking. "About the other day..."

He saw Dark Pit stiffen at the mention.

"I said not to question it, didn't I?" he asked as he turned to lay with his back facing Pit.

"Yeah, I know" the angel began as he scooted closer. "But...did you really mean what you said back then?"

"Idiot...of course I meant what I said. If anyone fucks with you, I'll kick their ass. I'll protect you, Pit."

Those words were soothing to hear. The brunette felt a smile making its way across his face as he looked at Dark Pit. Leaning over, he brushed away the black strands of hair covering his crush's face, revealing a very embarrassed face and pink cheeks.

"Aww, Pittoo, you're blushing!" he exclaimed.

"Sh-shut up!" Dark Pit yelled as he sat up, making him laugh as he did the same. It wasn't until then did Pit realize how close they had gotten in the process.

"Hey" the brunette said as he looked into crimson eyes. "Thanks for caring about me."

Pittoo didn't have much time to respond before he was engulfed in a tight hug. When Pit pulled away, the two looked deeply into each other's eyes, almost in a trance. They stayed that way for a few more seconds before Dark Pit felt his body moving against his own will. He began to lean down and his eyes began to close, and suddenly, Pit felt his own eyes close and himself lean up towards his twin's lips. Their lips barely brushed before a loud knock was heard at the door.

"Pit? I'm coming in!"

Both boy's eyes widened before they shoved themselves apart from the other, trying to act natural as the goddess of light entered the room, holding two plates.

"Phew" Palutena said as she set them down on Pit's desk. "Sorry I took so long! I had to multitask. Centurians can't do anything without me!"

She shook her head in disappointment as she backed up. "Remember, Pittoo, you can stay as long as you'd like! You're always welcome here! Well, anyway, enjoy!"

When the twins heard the door shut, they both let out a sigh of relief. Pit suddenly felt a lot of awkward tension in the air.

"Um, Pittoo?"

"What?"

"Uh, what exactly happened just now?"

"..."

"I mean, were we going to...you know..."

Dark Pit brushed a shaky hand through his hair. "I-I don't know."

The remainder of the day felt awkward for the two angels. Even Palutena felt some stiff tension in the air at dinnertime. When the night finally arrived, Dark Pit announced he was turning in for the night. He borrowed a shirt and some shorts from Pit to wear to bed which wasn't much of a problem since they both wore the same size. As Pittoo slept soundly in Pit's bed, Pit himself was on the carpet, head propped against the bed as he played videogames.

He couldn't really focus properly. The events that occurred earlier in the day were swarming his mind as he tried to shut it all out. While Pittoo was more than happy to go about the day as if the almost kiss hadn't happened, Pit was struggling to forget it.

The boy sighed quietly as he paused the game and placed the gamecube controller down beside him. Curling up into a ball, he began to think about the situation.

Did Pittoo like him? Why else would he have initiated it like that? It was all so confusing..,.

Standing up, the brunette walked over to the sleeping angel, examining his face. It was rare to see Dark Pit without his signature frown or scowl. Without it, he actually looked peaceful. Pit tucked a stray strand of jet black hair behind the boy's ear before quietly exiting the room.

As he attempted to maneuver himself through the dark halls and to Palutena's room, Pit couldn't stop himself from bumping into various objects. Her room wasn't very far away from his own, but to Pit, it felt like miles. He only had the help of the faint moonlight shining through the windows to guide him. When he finally arrived, he knocked on the door, hoping she'd hear him. He heard a faint groan and a rustling sound before footsteps were heard. Finally, the door opened to find a sleep deprived Palutena.

"Pit, what are you doing up from bed? It's 3:00 am in the morning" she said.

"I never really went to sleep...I stayed up playing videogames" he said honestly, making her sigh.

"Oh, Pit" she cooed as she stepped aside sluggishly to allow the boy in. She flicked the light switch on before sitting down on her bed, patting the spot next to her. Pit sat next to his motherly figure, placing his head on her shoulder as he felt an arm wrap around him gently.

"What's up, Kiddo?" she asked quietly as she gave his arm a gentle squeeze. Pit sighed.

"Do you think...do you think that Pittoo likes me?"

"Hmm? Why ask that all of a sudden?"

"Well.." he began, but stopped. Should he really tell her about what happened earlier...?

"You can tell me anything" Palutena assured him, as if reading his mind.

"I don't know how to explain it...Earlier today, Pittoo and I had this conversation and he said that he would protect me no matter what. Before I knew it, we were leaning in close and I think we were about to kiss, but..."

Pit glared up at Palutena, surprising her.

"W-what? What'd I do? Wha-...ohhhh...I...oh, okay" she said, realizing what she had done. "Well excuse me, princess for popping in at the wrong time!...I really am sorry, though..."

Pit smiled gently. "It's okay. The real reason I'm so upset is because afterwards, he acted as if the entire thing didn't happen. I mean, technically, we didn't exactly kiss, but I was sure we were going to. How could he dash something like that away so casually? That's why I was wondering about you're thoughts on Pittoo liking me" he explained.

"Pit."

The cinnamon haired boy looked up into gentle, green eyes. "I'm sure he likes you. You just have to remember, this is Dark Pit we're talking about. He has a hard time expressing his feelings because he's stubborn."

Pit nodded, deep in thought. "That makes sense. I guess I was just overreacting for nothing."

"That's natural, don't worry" Palutena said.

Pit smiled, suddenly feeling a lot better.

"Feel better?" the woman asked as the boy stood up.

"A lot, thanks."

She nodded as she stood up. "Good. Now head to bed and get some rest."

Pit nodded and exited the goddess' room before stumbling back to his own. Upon seeing Pittoo's sleeping face, he smiled. He turned off his game and crawled into bed carefully, trying not to wake him. He snuggled up at his side with newfound confidence before falling asleep.
