A/N: Hey guys, Merry Christmas! I wanted to make a holiday themed chapter for this story, which by the way, has absolutely nothing to do with the main storyline. Think of it as a bonus chapter. So, updates for the story at this point will be random, but there's only a few chapters left before it's finished anyway, so it shouldn't be too long a wait. Anyways, enjoy!
_________________________________Dark Pit awoke to the sweet scent of cake batter. He laid in bed, willing his eyes to adjust to the warm sunlight peeking through the window. When he finally came to, he furrowed his eyebrows. Pit's room looked different. He noticed colorful streamers and festive lights hanging from the ceiling. He drank in the new atmosphere before wiping his eyes and standing up. He threw his black toga and sandals on before exiting the room.
The raven stood awestruck outside the bedroom as he examined the hallway. There were decorations everywhere! Bows were strung up against the walls and toys were lying on the floor in a perfect alignment. Just then, Palutena walked over with a perplexed expression on her face.
"You wouldn't happen to know what became of the castle overnight, would you?" she asked. Pittoo shook his head.
"Nope. Just as confused as you are."
"Don't get me wrong. Everything is absolutely beautiful, but who could've...?"
The angel looked on in shock as Palutena began to laugh. After she calmed down a bit, she spoke.
"Heheh, I think I know who did it. Have you by any chance seen Pit this morning?"
Dark Pit realized for the first time that Pit wasn't beside him when he woke up.
"HE did all of this?"
"Why don't we find out?"
Dark Pit followed the goddess down the long corridor. The scent of cake batter became stronger as they reached the kitchen. Pit stood near the counter with his back facing the duo as they walked in.
"Something smells good~" Palutena said as she sniffed the air. The brunette turned around with a large grin on his face. His usually white outfit consisted of a green toga and red scarf. He had flour and batter on his hair, face, and hands.
"I've been baking ALL morning!" He announced as he bounced over to them. "I'm almost done though! Just need to finish the cake!"
"Seems your baking skills aren't nearly as lousy as your cooking skills" Pittoo mumbled, making his twin puff his cheeks out in mock anger.
Palutena giggled. "I'll be sure to start the cooking when your finished. You know, this morning, I actually forgot it was Christmas Eve until I saw all those decorations you put up."
"Oh, those? Haha, I had some help from the centurions! How could you forget Christmas Eve, though?"
"I had a ton of work to do yesterday, which reminds me that I should get that finished so I don't have to work on Christmas."
Pit frowned. "That sucks! Don't you ever get a break?"
"It's the duty of a goddess, Pit. But talking with you like this always makes me feel better. Anyways, I'll be in my room if you need me."
She ruffled his powdery hair before exiting. Pit turned towards his darker half and smiled.
"Wanna help me finish the cake?" he asked.
"Do I have too?"
"Oh, c'mon! Have some Christmas spirit!"
"It's not Christmas."
"We're preparing for Christmas."
Pittoo sighed and made his way over to the counter.
"What do I need to do?" he asked in a deadpan voice. Pit walked up beside him with a smile.
"Just decorate. It's easy. I already covered the cake in a base coat."
The brunette picked up a small baggie and began to frost the edge of the cake. Dark Pit watched in awe and curiosity before picking up a baggie of his own, attempting to mimic Pit. After a few minutes of decorating, the two stepped back to view their work.
"It's sloppy" Pittoo commented.
"It's perfect" Pit responded. The raven gave him an 'Are you fucking kidding me?' face.
"Are we looking as the same cake?" he asked, but widened his eyes when a slender finger was pressed against his lips.
"Shush" Pit said in a mock angry tone before walking over to the dessert. He placed a round, glass case around it and inserted it in the fridge.
"There! All done!...Now I have to worry about the mess I made..."
"Don't the centurions usually take care of that?" Pittoo asked.
Pit raised a finger to his chin. "Huh. You're right. Well, I still have to clean myself up. In hindsight, I really should've worn an apron..."
He looked down at himself before noticing the frosting and batter all over him. He sat atop the counter and began to lick the substances off his fingers. Dark Pit watched with a slight blush on his face as the brunette began to suck on his fingers. After a few seconds, he averted his eyes quickly to avoid the embarrassment.
When Pit was finished, he scanned the counter for the wooden spoon he used to stir the batter with. He took it and began to lick the excess off of it. Dark Pit began to blush heavily.
'Damn' he thought bitterly. 'Pit's the only person I know who can look so innocent while doing something so lewd.'
He tried to shake the dirty thoughts out of his mind as he glanced back over at Pit, who began to sway his legs gently.
Deciding he couldn't take much more, Dark Pit closed his eyes, leaned in, and pressed his lips against the other. He couldn't see it, but he heard the sound of the wooden spoon clatter against the floor. Pit didn't make any effort to move away. In fact, he didn't move at all. When Pittoo pulled back, he looked straight into widened, sky blue eyes. The pair stayed like that for a moment until the raven spoke.
"I...s-sorry, I-"
"That felt nice."
"What?"
Pit looked down with glazed eyes and smiled shyly.
"Did you...kiss me because...you like me?"
Dark Pit didn't know how to respond to that, nor did he have the time to respond, as Pit leaned in and initiated the second kiss. This one was less rushed and more sentimental. It was mushy, but Pittoo felt as if his lips were melting against Pit's as his body grew hotter and hotter with each passing second. The brunette's mouth tasted sweet, probably from the batter he was eating earlier. Nonetheless, it tasted good. He could feel Pit smiling against his lips, and when they finally pulled away, he was wearing that same smile.
Pit slid off the counter and hugged Dark Pit.
"I love you."
He couldn't figure out why those words made his cheeks flush so much.
"I...I love you, too..." he murmured as he averted his red orbs.
Pit closed his eyes slowly as he felt the angel tuck some stray hair behind his ear.
"Merry Christmas, Pittoo" he said.
"It's not Christmas yet, Dumbass."
He crossed his arms, but let them slide back to his sides within moments. He sighed before smiling.
"Merry Christmas" he whispered softly.
