The News That Ruins Everything

After we pretty much failed to find a monster, we walk back to the Mystery Shack. My grandparents wait on me there, so they can take me back to their house. Mabel, Dipper, and I walk slowly--but not too slow--back.
When we finally make it there, my grandparents and I say goodbye and thank them for the wonderful time. We get into our car and drive off.
"We need to tell you something," Grandma says.
"Yeah! What is it?" I ask.
"We got a call from your (G) saying that you can't stay the whole summer here."
"How long do I have left?"
"A week."
"A WEEK?! Like on next Sunday?!"
"Yes, next Sunday you'll be going home."
"Going home," I murmur. That brought a little bit of sadness to my heart. "What if I don't want to?"
"I don't believe you have a word in it. You're going home," Grandpa says. I slouch down in the seat. I'm actually going to miss this place.
