CAUTIOUS HEARTS
Will you let loose your walls?
I’m no trojan horse.
I come bearing love without deceit.
Will you please not let me bear,
A burden of the sins of another man?
Or should I sail away with my love,
Find someone who’ll want it?
Probably you think I’ll wreck you,
Just like my brother did.
But I also come bearing wounds,
From one of your sisters of different mother.
I come bearing a patched heart,
Look closely and you see it still seeps.
But I believe in love, not the version of your sister’s.
Just let down your walls,
And let’s see if I’ll wreck you any further,
Or you’ll add to my seeping heart another thousand stitches.
