"I'm asking the first question." I stated, refusing to let her get an edge on me.
She simply shrugged, holding her hands up high and surrendering to my demand.
Good, she does as she's told.
"Why was I hired to kill you?" I asked bluntly, trying to show as little emotion as possible, despite the fact that I was unbelievably curious to learn more things about her.
"I got on the wrong side of some bad people." She shrugged, pushing her food around her plate with her fork. Her eyes looked down to the lower left, suggesting to me she was recalling an emotional memory or feeling.
"Why? What did you do?" She hushed me, pressing her slender fingers up to my lips. I held my breath, gazing into her eyes as she smirked playfully.
"Ah, ah, ah, one question at a time Darling, it's my turn now." She brought her hand down and I rolled my eyes, waiting for her question.
"I already know your name's Natasha."
"Wha..." I tried,
"Don't interrupt me. Anyway, it's a very pretty name, suits you well. But my question, what's your favourite colour?"
"Green. Like the forests and the meadows. It's peaceful and calming." I replied truthfully.
"How cute. And it's the colour of those beautiful eyes of yours." She added making me blush slightly.
"Mines red, it looks great on you, I wish I could wear red.""Why don't you?"
"It clashes with my eyes. But you look amazing in it, it complements your skin tone perfectly."
I looked down at my dress, trying to hide the flattered smile threatening to spread widely across my face. Why did she have to be so sweet? I needed to get my focus back.
"Ok my turn, what did you do that was so bad it made people want you dead?" I spoke quickly, wanting to get as much information as possible from this dinner.
"Um, well, I was a science experiment created by an organisation called Taura. They made me the way I am but I guess they did too good of a job. I escaped their prison but, they wouldn't want me dead. Which brings me to my next question, who sent you to kill me?"
I shuffled in my seat, I couldn't tell her, it was against the rules, if they found out I told her I'd be finished. But I guessed it'd be different if she worked it out herself...
"An organisation based in France, their leader is tall and broad with dark hair. He walks with a slight limp." I could see the cogs turning in her mind as she processed the information, her eyes finally lighting up in understanding.
"I see. Hmmmmm ok, ask your next question." She hummed, putting her cutlery down as she finished her last bite of food.
"How did you know about today?"
"What do you mean?" She raised an eyebrow.
"I - I mean how did you know it was my birthday? Even I don't celebrate it anymore."
"Oh Darling I know everything about everyone, even you." She hummed.
She keeps calling me Darling.
I shuffled in my seat, feeling butterflies erupt in my stomach. The way she said it in her British accent was just....
I closed my eyes for a second, trying quickly to process all of the new things I was learning about her. I knew everything about everyone too, well mostly, but this incredible woman before me was the exception.
