A few days passed and Iris and I got to know each other more and more. I found myself becoming more affectionate by the day and even though neither of us had said those three little words again, we both knew.
It was a huge step for both of us to confess our feelings like that, so I think we both knew it would come easier with time.
We also hadn't known each other long, less than a month, but the connection we felt was stronger than anything. We both knew our feelings were strong, and were both getting used to them.
It was nice that we were learning and trusting together. It made it easier.
I was sitting with my morning coffee, as usual, and relaxing in the morning breeze, when I remembered I'd left my suit in the washing machine.
I'd decided that morning to do some laundry as a lot of our clothes were quite disgusting.
I made my way to the laundry room, placing the clothes into a basket ready to carry outside.
Just as I was getting the last few clothes out, I heard a distraught call for my name echo throughout the house.
"NATTY? NATTY? NATASHA!" she shouted.
I ran into the living room, ready to fight.
"What is it Iris? Who's here" I asked, entering the room to see her breathless and panicky.
But there was no one in the house. Iris' face instantly relaxed as she saw me and she ran towards me, pulling me into a tight hug.
"Hey, what happened?" I said, brushing my hand through her hair as she rested her head on my shoulder.
"I, I don't know, it's kinda stupid actually." She whispered, sniffling slightly.
"Nothing you could ever feel could be stupid Sweetheart, tell me what's wrong." I reassured her.
"Well, I woke up and when I went to look for you outside like usual, you weren't there, just your coffee cup. I, I guess I thought you'd gone again. I'm sorry." She sighed.
"Hey, don't ever be sorry for how you feel, ok? And I've told you before, you're never gonna lose me again. I promise."
"Kidnapping still exists you know. I didn't think you'd left me, I actually thought they'd taken you." she whispered softly.
"Wow, you underestimate my talents Babe, no one could ever succeed in taking me. I'd kill them before they even got the chance." I said, nuzzling my face into her hair.
I felt incredibly relieved when her frown turned into a smile and a giggle. She lifted her head off my shoulder and placed a soft kiss on my lips.
For the rest of the day, the two of us just relaxed and got on with our own thing around the house. Cleaning and tidying. Iris disappeared for a while, but I assumed she was just watching a movie in our room or something.
It was dark outside now, and I was in the kitchen preparing some chicken for dinner when I felt a warm pair of hands wrap around my body from behind.
"Hey Honey." she hummed into my ear, placing a small kiss on my neck.
"Hey Sweetheart." I replied, rubbing over her hands with my thumbs.
"I've stopped bleeding." she whispered.
I turned myself in her arms to face her, seeing the smirk on her face that I couldn't help but return.
"Oh really?"
"Mmmhmmm, and you owe me a skinny dip if I remember correctly."
"I do! We'll have to clean the leaves out of the pool first though."
