*ADELE'S POV*I put the odd box of cookies my new neighbour Riley gave me on the kitchen table.
That was a very odd interaction. When my mum said the boy next door was nice i didn't expect.. that.
Besides the fact he's stupidly hot for his own good-i take a moment to remember his shining green eyes and bright blonde hair.
Besides from being hot, he seems like someone i will not get along with.
He seems popular and extroverted. Like he will talk to everyone and anyone about anything and has his all little perfect life.
He probably thinks it's all cupcakes and rainbows but in reality it's not. Life sucks and people like that just seem to forget it.
I stare at the phone number before pulling the lid off and eating one of the cookies he gave me.
These are actually pretty good.
I spend the evening settling into my new home and getting ready to start school tomorrow. I'm fucking nervous.
~~
I get up and open my blind and rub my eyes so the blurriness goes away.
My eyes fixate on a particular blonde boy. Riley has big round blue glasses on. His shirt is off and he sits at a dark wooden bench book and highlighter in hand. His tongue slips out the corner of his mouth in concentration.
So cute.
So annoying. I don't like boys like him.
As if he feels me staring he looks up and out the window and at me.
A smile spreads his lips and he lifts his hand waving.
I look at him for a moment before leaving and getting ready for the day. I need to look good.
my out fit ^^
I let my long down hair hang down and i do light mascara and some blush do i don't look dead.
I take a deep breathe before leaving and going to my brand new school.
As i'm walking down the halls i can feel everyone's eyes on me. I pull my shoulders back and straighten my spine.
Confidence is key.
Girls give me odd looks, guys smirk. Whispers break out and i see Riley out the corner of my eye as he talks with his friends.
I get distracted and i run straight into someone drawing more attention to me.
"Watch where your fucking going." Me and the man say at the same time.
Now this is my kind of person. Not too bubbly and doesn't expect the best in life.
"Who are you?" He frowns.
"Adele, you?"
"Max."
A little blonde girl comes running around the corner and she comes over with a bright beaming smile. Max looks at her and smiles.
"Hi!" The blonde chirps. Max wraps his hand on her waist and pulls her body into his.
"I'm Caitlin, you are?"
"Adele."
"Is it your first day?"
I nod.
"That's so much fun. I remember my first day- oo also i love your outfit."
"Thanks." I nod.
Caitlin seems unbothered by my hard exterior and i'm assuming it's because her boyfriend has the same.
Max looks at her like she's the sun. Like the only one he cares about.
My heart squeezes. I want someone to look at me like that.
We all begin walking down the halls chatting and i watch as Riley comes over and walks beside Caitlin.
"Hi Adele." He leans infront smiling at me.
I give him a glare and he just giggles before him and Caitlin get into a conversation.
Max lets out a small chuckle.
"What's so funny?"
"He likes you."
I groan, "I met him yesterday, he doesn't like me."
"Trust me, him and Caitlin are the same person just different body parts. He likes you."
"He's so loud." I mutter lowly as he runs over to a group of guys and gives them all hugs before returning to us.
"I always thought the same about Caitlin, you know. Like the whole loud and obnoxious thing was so annoying but one day we got into a fight and i then realised i missed her. I missed her voice, and i miss her talking to me. You'll get used to it."
"I wouldn't have to get used to it if he could just leave me alone."
He lets out a choked laugh, "There's no way in hell, he's going to leave you alone."
he's one of us 🥹
