*ADELE'S POV*

I fucked up.

As soon as the lunch bell rings i scramble out of class and i find Max at his locker.

"You were right." I sigh.

He gives a small smile, "I'm always right, but what about?"

"Riley was trying to be like me today for whatever reason and he was quiet and shit and i was worried that he wasn't talking and i missed him talking." The confession rolls off my tongue.

"Well, well, well. I did try to warn you."

"This wouldn't of happened if he just left me alone!"

"I told you this too."

I groan, "This sucks."

"Now you can date him."

"No fucking way."

My brain ticks with plans to try and get rid of whatever thing i feel for Riley.

I don't like him. Sure he's so fucking handsome, but he's not my type.

He's too extroverted for me.

I need to ignore him. I need to stop getting myself tangled up into situations with him.

I need boundaries. Otherwise i will get attached.

Caitlin comes running over and trips but Max catches her.

She pants, "Thanks, my love."

My heart squeezes.

I spot Riley walking down the halls with his group of friends. He spots me and smiles widely as his cheeks turn pink.

"Your blushing!!" Caitlin squeals.

I look at her with a sneer, "Am not."

"Tips of your ears are pink." She giggles.

I hate my life.

I close my eyes and try to think clearly.

"Are you okay?"

My eyes fly open and i'm greeted by Riley's bright green ones. He is bent down our faces in-line with each other.

"I'm fine." I grumble.

He giggles and stands next to me, joining the semi circle our friends have made.

"I thought you were napping standing up." Riley says.

I grit my teeth, "I wasn't napping."

"She was having a mid-life crisis." Caitlin nods.

"Shut up." I roll my eyes earning a sneer from Max, "I'm not having a midlife crisis."

"Anything i can help with?" Riley smiles.

Yes, you can leave me alone.

I shake my head.

He then turns to Max, "Maxy moo. You want a cuddle?" He opens his arms.
