Hanni's POV

New day, new me

Today would be different. I was determined to change for the better, to resist the temptation of flirting with anyone that crossed my path.

But nevermind there's a chick in front on me. Why the hell is she smirking like that. That's kinda disgusting but she's cute anyways.

"Hi, I'm Isa" she said, extending her hand for a handshake.

"I'm Han-" I began, but before I could finish, my best friend interrupted, placing her hand on my shoulder and giving me a stern look.

"I'm sorry, young lady, but this friend of mine is busy" Danielle said, pulling me away from the scene.

" Bro, why do you need to interrupt the moment?" I asked as I looked disappointed by the wasted opportunity.

"You promised, remember? You said you were going to focus on your studies. I can't even count the number of sevens you've racked up" Danielle replied, delivering a rather harsh insult.

"At least I passed. A 75 is a blessing for me" I retorted, defending myself.

Why do we needed to study so much. Life was short, and I believed in living in the moment and doing whatever I wanted and that was my life motto.

"Come on, Hanni, sit properly. The teacher is coming" I adjusted my posture and rolled my eyes at her.

Damn it! I forgot to do my assignment. Well, more accurately, I forgot to even answer it. This was a recurring problem for me. Last night, I had spent hours chatting with someone until 3 am. I couldn't even remember her name, but she was fun to talk to.

"Where is your assignment?"

"I forgot to bring it," I replied, hoping she would let me copy hers before the teacher collected them.

"Can I copy yours?" I pleaded, turning on my charm and giving her my best puppy eyes.

"Aish, Pham Hanni, what's wrong with you?" she sighed, clearly annoyed.

"Please," I continued to plead, hoping she would cave in.

"Fine, go ahead and copy it quickly" she relented.

As I glanced at Danielle's answers, I couldn't help but wonder how she always managed to come up with them. The problems were filled with complex calculations, and my laziness was kicking in.

"Is there any shortcut for this?" I asked, desperately hoping for an easier way out.

"No, just copy it. Be thankful you don't have to solve anything," she replied, clearly not amused by my laziness.

"Fine," I muttered. Okay, I'm defeated.

"Your handwriting is terrible. I can't understand anything" she complained.

"It's okay. At least I can read it"

"Whatever" she replied, brushing off her comment. It was my life, after all.

My eyes were heavy, and the teacher's voice droned on about math. I hated math. Why did they have to make things so complicated?

I never got Isa's number. Maybe we could have talked about love and life, and the combination of the two, hehe. But who was I kidding? I wasn't ready to change just yet. Besides, what was wrong with being a loving person? It was a Bible commandment, after all - love one another.

"Hanni, it's your turn"

"Turn for what? Don't talk to me, I'm thinking about Isa" I snapped back, realizing that everyone was looking at me, waiting for my answer.
