Hanni's POV
As the weekend slowly crept up, I knew exactly where I wanted to go to unwind and relax. My favorite café had always been my go-to spot. The aesthetic was impeccable and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee was addicting. As I ordered my usual coffee and croissant, I took a sip and savored the warm flavor, feeling my troubles melt away.
But as I sat here, enjoying my own company, my phone kept buzzing with reminders from Danielle about our assignments. I made a mental note to manage them on Sunday night, but for now, I just wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet.
There were only three occupied tables in the café, and I felt comfortable being alone in my own thoughts. I watched the people pass by outside, and the everyday scenarios felt different when no one was talking to me.
It was a peaceful moment, away from Lily's big mouth.
My friends had been shipping me with Minji for a while now, and I had to admit, it was thrilling every time they mentioned her name.
But then the chimes made a sound causing me to look at the glass door. My attention was drawn to the figure approaching the counter.
It was Minji.
My heart raced as she sat down in the corner, deep in thought. Too much coffee I guess.
Her plain white shirt and black pants suited her perfectly, and her cap added a touch of perfection to her overall look. Damn.
But I couldn't tell if she was single or not. My friends had said that she liked me, but if she was in a relationship, that couldn't be true.
As I approached her and sat across from her, I could see surprise in her eyes.
"Are you stalking me, Minji-ssi?" I asked, trying to break the ice.
"Excuse me?" she asked, trying to deflect.
"Why are you here?" I asked, trying to get to the bottom of things.
"I'm drinking coffee, isn't it obvious?" she said stubbornly.
"Just admit it," I urged her.
"Admit what?" she asked, clearly irritated.
I could feel my annoyance building up. "That you like me since last year," I said confidently. She tried to hide her true expression, but I could tell.
"What's your name again?"
How come she kept forgetting her crush's name??
That's offending.
"Come on, I know that you know my name," I said, emphasizing each word.
"I forgot," she said, which I found hard to believe.
"Anyways, I'm PHAM HANNI. You can call me Hanni," I said, trying to introduce myself again.
"You're right, I like you..." she started, and my heart skipped a beat. Did she just confess to me? She's getting brave—
"I like you to shut up and stop assuming that I like you," she finished, and my smile turned into a frown.
"You're being obvious right now, just confess," I urged her.
"Hey, be careful," I said as she gulped her coffee like water. I held her hand to get the cup from her, but a droplet dropped on my hand, causing me to flinch.
"You're wasting my time, and don't you dare come after me again because I don't like you and I will never" she said, rolling her eyes at me. It stung a little, but it didn't affect me because I didn't like her either and never would.
