Hanni's POV
After a few days of not attending class, I finally decided to go to school. And once again, people are overreacting. There are bouquets of flowers and chocolates on my desk and in my locker, as if I had disappeared for a whole month. And there are even notes? I wonder where these came from.
I'm sorry for "kidnapping" you, but I hope you liked what I prepared — 🏀
I suppose you're still mad at me, since you're not responding to my messages. I'm sorry again. Maybe if I hadn't brought you there, you could walk properly right now. — 🏀
Don't worry, I won't force you to help me anymore. Just don't ignore me, can you? — 🏀
How did she know where my room and desk are?! But nevermind, she looks sincere though. Why am I drawing conclusions from a simple note? Maybe she's just playing around again.
"Hey, you've been reading that for about 10 minutes," Lily said, appearing from behind me. I glared at her, sure that she's the one who told Minji where I sit.
"Lily, come here," I said, and she occupied the seat in front of me. "Show me your forehead" I commanded, smirking. With slight hesitation, she pushed her bangs to the side, and I flicked her with just the right amount of strength.
"Ouch, what the freak, Hanni!" she complained, massaging her head.
"Why do you keep helping Minji? And why are these notes appearing here?" I asked.
"Well, umm... it's because, umm..." She started, avoiding my gaze. This girl is definitely keeping a secret from me.
"Because?" I asked, eager to know what she had to say. "They have a game later, and she wanted you to be there. She thought you would still ignore her, so she made these," Lily explained, pointing to the drawer under my table. My hand searched for what she was indicating, and I found another sticky note.
Come to my game later at exactly 4pm, don't miss it — 🏀
This Minji is different from the Minji I met at the canteen a few weeks ago. Why does she need to see me if I'm not going to help her anymore? Yeah, I get it, she just wants to be friends with me. But from what I remember, she already showed that she's not interested in me. So why is she making all this effort? But anyways, this isn't my problem. I still have the right to object if I don't really want to.
"Lily," I called her, noticing that she was covering her forehead this time. "Did Minji say anything about me?" Curiosity hit me, as I knew she was the one Minji was contacting among my friends.
"Um, not much, but she almost..." Lily muttered, scratching her head. "Almost?" What does she mean by almost?
"Like the other day, she asked me where you sit. I tried talking to her, but she was too quiet. But I could tell that she had something to say."
"That's it?" I asked.
"I don't know if I was just hallucinating at the time but I'm sure I heard" she paused "something like'Your friend is so cute and I couldn't resist her'" I blushed automatically, not sure why.
That's a typical compliment, but it feels like she's the first one to praise me like that.
It's still processing. Minji thought I was cute?? But what if Lily misunderstood?
Anyways, I know I'm cute. No need to remind me.
"So, are you going later or not?" I don't have a definite decision right now. But why do I feel guilty if I don't go? No, I shouldn't feel guilty, right? I still have the right to choose.
