Sydney Archer

'Syd...Sydney...hello?...Syd, please wake up..'

I had convinced myself if I kept my eyes closed long enough with a deadpan look on my face, I'd be able to fall back asleep without being woken up again. However, that was far from the truth. Harry didn't let up, he kept nudging me and telling me to wake up, it was becoming increasingly more difficult to pretend he wasn't speaking directly into my ear.

'Sydneyyy...please, pretty please...Syd-'

I rolled over to look at Harry, he was wearing a t-shirt and shorts, wet hair as if he had just come from the shower. He looked down at me with a massive grin on his face when he realised I was awake. He looked good, I have to give him that, it was making it really difficult for me to be mad at him for waking me up. How could you be mad at somebody who looks at you like that?

'Morning gorgeous.' He smiled, moving the hair of my forehead so he could kiss me. 'Sorry, didn't wanna waken you but it is almost one in the afternoon and Nick asked us to meet him in the lobby for something.'

'What?' I groaned, looking at the time in disbelief as Harry just laughed. In my defence, we didn't get home until 5am. It was a big night of celebrating. 'When do we have to see Nick? Do I have time to nap?'

'Nap?' Harry asked, shaking his head at me. 'You Kidding? You amaze me. Twenty minutes...five minutes Sydney time.'

'That's plenty-'

'Get up sleepy head.' Harry interrupted me, I went to roll over however he prevented me from doing so and as I groaned, begged not to leave the bed, he was having none of it. He picked me up from the bed and slung me over the shower, opened the curtains and spun round in a few circles.

I was laughing uncontrollably, I was certainly awake at that point and harry knew that would be the outcome. Although when he put me back down and I tried to climb in the bed he did the same again, only this time he walked us both into the bathroom and made eye look at myself in the mirror. His head rested on top of mine and his fingers forced my cheeks upwards so there was a smile on my face.

'Happy baby.' He chuckled behind me, 'Carpe Diem love, wakey wakey.'

I don't know how Harry was so full of life this morning, but his energy and the constant smile on his face filled me with joy. I couldn't dare to wish I was still asleep when I'm now blessed with that smile. I got dressed and ready quickly. Harry applauded me for doing it quicker than 'Sydney time' and so we had time for a quick cigarette on the balcony outside.

Last night we didn't even have that much to drink, we just celebrated all night. This is our favourite record so far and it meant the world to play it to everyone last night. Harry and I played Matilda, just us two and our guitars. It was such a spectacular moment, I couldn't stop crying and it meant so much to me that we made it to a position in our lives where that is what we were doing.

We ended up walking back to the hotel, all four of us and we walked by a few billboards that had our posters on it. We signed them in sharpies and walked by record shops that would open in the morning to sell our brand new record for people to listen to. It was a night we won't forget, spent with the best people ever.

'You ready lazy bones?' Harry asked me jokingly, grabbing our room key to slide into his pocket. 'Joking, joking. Promise.'

'Shut up.' I laughed, nudging him in the side as I walked by and out the hotel room door.

Everyone was in the lobby waiting, Jamie, Myles and Nick, as well as a security guard and one of our producers. Jamie laughed at me being on time, apparently that's become a regular thing now that Harry and I tend to arrive places together. Nick took us into one of the meeting rooms at the hotel, we were worried what this could be about. I saw Nick's folder though, I don't know if anybody else clocked on what it said on it, but the second I saw 'Tour '89' I knew what this would be about.
