Rowena's POV
I wasn't able to fall asleep at all. I kept tossing and turning throughout the night.

Suddenly, I sat bolted upright. I'd heard a noise..and it seemed like it was coming from outside my door. As I listened carefully, I recognised the unmistakable sound of fluttering wings. My first thought was..Ah maybe a fairy? But no, it couldn't be.

The noise I'd heard was most likely produced by big strong wings.. not wings that were small, fragile, and delicate like those of a Fairie. It seemed like it was calling out to me.
I found myself  getting off of my bed and walking towards my door. I didn't want to open the door, I was afraid of what I'd see. I stared in horror as I saw my hands move up to the door handle and gently swung it open.

There was.. nothing, I stood there staring at nothing. Had I really just imagined those fluttering wings? Those heavy, strong wings?
I felt uneasy.

Just as I was about to walk myself to bed, I heard it again..the noise...the fluttering... I heard it again, but this time, it was louder like it was inches away from my neck.

I cautiously turned around half, expecting to see a ghost that would claim to be haunting the palace for centuries, but instead, there hovered a majestic creature before me.

I stared at the beast in front of me in awe. It certainly was not a ghost. It was an Oloragentum.

I was so sure of it as I recall reading about them a while ago. Oloragentum, which literally translates to silver swan in latin, is a  majestic creature that roams amidst the forests of Azarah. All Oloragentem are female.

What I didn't understand was, how a beast such as the Oloragentum native to Azarah found it's way into the Aelian royal castle. Now as far as I knew, Azarah was a town located  thousands of miles away from the kingdom of Aelia. Azarah wasn't anything like what you'd call an ordinary town. The town was magical. It  was home to many unknown beasts and mythical creatures that I'd known to exist only in the novels I read. Children went to school in Azarah. . It was a very peaceful town.

Pushing my thoughts aside, I decided to give all of my attention to the dazzling Oloragentum in front of me. The beast emitted an aura that was impossible to resist, I found myself extending my hand gently towards her.  She looked hesitant at first before she approached me slowly and cautiously nuzzling her head into my warm hand. She knew I wouldn't hurt her and seemed to trust me. I decided to call her Sidus which meant star in latin.

Much to my disappointment she pulled away and  made a weird nod like gesture, flapping her wings before slowly walking down the dark corridors. After taking a few steps she looked back at me as if to say 'Follow me'. Without giving much thought I followed Sidus along the dark corridors of the castle dimly lit by the glow her body emitted.

It had been a few minutes since I'd been following Sidus around the castle aimlessly. Suddenly I heard the sound of footsteps, big, heavy footsteps against the wooden floorboards. They sounded like somebody wearing enormous metal boots was having a dance party. Then it hit me.

It must be about 4am now. The queen's guard usually wakes up at 4 in the morning to practice some sparring. I began to freak out as the footsteps seemed to get louder with each passing second.  I felt my heart hammering against my chest. I looked around panicked and spotted a door wide open.

I quickly pushed Sidus into the room before locking us both in. I stood in front of the door and clutched onto my sleeping gown, calming myself. That was a close call. We'd ended up in the kitchen. Sidus seemed very happy as she began sniffing a loaf of bread and cheese. The poor thing must've been starving. I cut up a few slices of bread, which she happily gobbled up in a few seconds. I then helped myself to a glass of water. All that adrenaline sure did make me quite thirsty.

After a while, when I was sure that there was nobody outside, I let Sidus out of the kitchen. She nudged my shoulder gently making it clear that she wanted me to follow her once again. Honestly, I was getting a bit frustrated , but nevertheless I followed her. As we kept going , I realized that I'd never been to this part of the castle before. The walls were a darker shade of brown, almost black unlike the corridors in the castle. It seemed as if we were walking into a cave. I've lived here for 16 years now and still never knew of the existence of such a corridor.

Why had I never been to this part of the castle before? My surroundings felt so unfamiliar...What was in here that was being hidden..
