Third Person's POV
The days that followed were repetitive. The same old boring routine everyday, wake up, breakfast, lunch, walk back home, homework, sleep and repeat. Rowena was slowly but gradually getting used to life as a normal high schooler. She learnt to detest homework and weekly assignments like any other teenager. She enjoyed spending time with her new friends at school. Of course dealing with Tristan at times was a bit infuriating but she managed. She tried avoiding Ophelia to her best ability. So far Rowena had managed to have little to no interactions with her.
Although one would think Rowena's life had become a lot more boring compared to the life of royalty she had once led not too long ago, she knew she would give anything for it to stay like this forever.
Little did she know she had a lot more than just the troubles of highschool waiting for her.
Rowena's POV
I couldn't wait to go to bed and snuggle under my blankets and chat with Harritte till the two of us fell asleep eventually. But all of that would have to wait until I finished my homeworks and assignments. Mrs.Clark's assignments were always the most complicated and boring. Well of course it would be boring, it would be foolish to expect a Math assignment to be entertaining. They were always a handful and I had gotten quiet used to it by now. I nibbled on the back of my pencil as I rested my head on my other hand while staring at my book.
I was thankful when Harriette barged into the room and threw herself across the bed grabbing my attention.
"Ugh Rowena let's just go to bed already. " she whined , her face buried into her pillow.
"Hold on, I still have this math assignment to complete. I'll be done in a bit."
"Rena it's 12:30 am, those brains of yours aren't going to cooperate any more."
I dropped my pen on the table in defeat. She was right after all, staring at my book wasn't going to magically solve all of my sums. Besides I could just copy off of Ezra's work first thing in the morning. The guy's a certified genius at Math.
Without further ado I dragged myself bedward and got into bed, pulling the covers over me. I sighed overwhelmed, suddenly feeling content by the sudden warmth and comfort I felt. Highschool certainly does make you appreciate the little things in life. I turned to face Harriette and smiled at her signaling her to commence the start of our long midnight conversation.
"Okay so Ophelia is honestly..." she began. My eyelids felt heavy as I blinked sleepily. The rest of her words were drowned out by the darkness and serenity as I let slumber consume me. I drifted off to slumberland.
I opened my eyes only to see that I was face to face with an angry Sidus ready to attack me. Instinctively ,I raised both my arms in an effort to shield myself to the best ability.
I shut my eyes tightly embracing myself for the pain I knew I was going to be in. I was anxious and doubtful when all of a sudden I felt a sudden surge of heat rush through my body. I tried to resist whatever was happing to happening to me by burrying this sudden surge of power in vain. It was too strong. I felt like I had jsut errupeted.
I slowly opened my eyes and all I could see was light, just light. It was bright and warm. This light..it made me calm. My body felt light and weightless, I felt energized. The light was serene. I felt as if I were just floating in the sky.
I tried to look around trying to locate the source of this powerful light that just seemed to appear out of nowhere. However, I couldn't see anything except for the bright, warm yellow light. I took a look at my hands and what I saw caught me off guard. I stared in shock when I saw my hands engulfed in light. I raised my hands up in the air waving them senselessly. Why were my hands on fire, and more over why was I not feeling any pain?
I froze as a came to a realization. Was it me? Was I the source of this powerful light..no fire. My breath quivered as I stared at my hands. I moved my hand around in a circular motion, staring in awe at the fire my hand was was able to produce. I slowly clenched my fist watching as the light slowly dimmed until there was no trace of the fiery light at all.
I looked around suddenly remembering how Sidus had tried to attack me. But she was nowhere to be found. She had vanished without a trace.
Could it be that the light had scared her off .. my fire?
