"In the end,
she became more than what she expected.
she became the journey,
and like all journeys, she did not end,
she just simply changed directions and kept going."
A young princess trapped within her own castle walls, discovers a secret passa...
Third person POV The princess had now solved the puzzle and was now going to face what was beyond that door alongside her new friend Sidus the Oloragentum. They waited anxiously as the rusty old door creaked opening slowly, revealing what it had been hiding.
Rowena's POV When the door opened, we were hit by a blast of cold, icy air . There was a cave...an underwater river cave. I was clearly taken by surprise. I'd expected to see a secret room of some sort, not a secret river cave.

The cave was breathtaking. Even Sidus seemed like she was blown away by the sight of the luminous water.
But something about the water felt rather odd. There was no sign of life in the cave, which was weird. There was abundant water and oxygen.
I was suspicious. I thought for a while before my eyes fell on a pile of rocks close to where Sidus was sitting. I'd gotten an idea, I picked up a light rock and threw it across the river.
As soon as the rock touched the blue luminous water, the river slowly began changing colour. It looked like a potion that was being stirred into its perfect, rightful colour.
The lake that was once glamorous with hues of luminous blue was now an obnoxious shade of yellow. What scared me most was that it looked exactly like the River Lethe.
In Greek mythology, the Lethe was one of the many rivers of the underworld ruled over by Hades. According to legend, this river was said to erase the memories from the souls of the dead. It was one of the five rivers in the Underworld. Of course, this couldn't be the Lethe since we weren't underground, but I was positive this river was just as dangerous and had the same cursed abilities.
If the water did as much as touch either me or Sidus, we would lose our memories for good.
I had to find a way to cross the river and reach the other side of the cave without coming in contact with it's water.
Third person POV
While Rowena had been focused on the river, the Oloragentum ,Sidus had been trying to get some rest. She had been tired from all the walking. She went to a corner, huddled up and sat there. She didn't feel comfortable lying on the cold wet sand .It felt like there was something underneath her. Clearly annoyed, Sidus began digging into the Sand, with her sharp claws in an effort to find and get rid of whatever was underneath the sand buried beneath her.
Rowena's POV
I stared at the river as if staring at it long enough would help me cross it. I decided to give myself a break and rest for a while. I hadn't gotten any sleep at all. Maybe I would be able to think better after I rested for a few hours. I glanced at Sidus to see what she had been up to while I was checking out the river, she had been awfully quiet, but then I figured she was just as tired as I was. I saw her digging into the sand aggressively as if she was searching for something . I went closer to see what she'd dug up.

It was a wooden boat. We could easily cross the river on the boat. I flipped it over eagerly to check for damages. Unfortunately there a massive hole in the centre. We were back to square 1.
Suddenly a thought struck me. Sidus had wings, she could fly. Oloragentem are very strong birds and can carry almost twice their weight. She could easily fly us out of this cave. We would have to be very careful to not touch the water though. She lowered herself in front of me as if reading my thoughts.
I sat on her back and gently stroked her neck signaling her to take off. She flapped her wings steadily hovering in the air and glided slowly but smoothly. She tried her best to avoid the water at all costs, she knew the consequences.
The cave was beautiful. The rocks above us were adorned with crystals of every color. They looked like they were rare. If I were to sell some of them I'd get a huge sum of money, which I desperately needed. After all I was only in my nightgown with no valuable possessions other than some of the jewellery I was wearing. So while we were flying I managed to pluck out some crystals from the rocks above us and stuff them in my pockets. I felt like they would be of great use. I fell asleep while sidus flew along the cave carrying me on her back.
We reached the other side of the cave within a few hours and Sidus flew us out of the cave gracefully landing on a heap of dried grass. I woke up almost immediately. I climbed off of her. The end of the cave had opened into a forest. The Olorogentum nuzzled her head against my shoulder affectionately before walking to a bush of berries. While she was busy eating I decided to try and figure out where we were.
I knew we weren't in Aelia anymore as I couldn't see the castle. Aelia was a very small kingdom with hardly two villages , so mother always said that the castle would always be visible from any part of Aelia. We were definitely far away from Aelia. I noticed that all the trees around us were Red sandalwood trees.
When I looked closer, I saw a common marking on all of the trees, the sun and the moon..it was a mark that looked like the sun and moon combined together.

I knew where we were immediately..
Third person POV
What does the mark mean? What kind of place have Rowena and her friend Sidus, the Oloragentum set foot in...is it safe?
