Merida

My mother has been screaming at me for hours and hours.
"Merida! Where have you been last night? You didn't come home for dinner! You missed a princess lesson!"
I had to stop this.   "I... Uhh... Found a suitor!"
When her eyes lit up I knew, instantly, that I should have kept my mouth shut.
She looked like she had just woken up from the most wonderful dream in the world.
"Yew, Merida, finally, found ... a suitor?? MERIDA this is ... this is great! Wait till I tell yah father!"
She hugged me then left the dinner table.  Before she went through the door she turned around and asked,  "Merida... is he..  a Royal?"
I took in a deep breath.    "Yes! He is royal, and, and very handsome!"
"Oh thank goodness," she rests a hand on her chest. Then closed the door.
I leaned on a wall then slowly sank to the ground.

      * * *
Other than the fact that I had lied to my mother, totally ruined my life - It was a nice peaceful day. No lessons, brothers leaving me alone, my dad doing whatever it is he does, mom leaving me alone for once.
I went outside and nommed on some bread. As I passed some folks I saw a poster stuck on a wooden bench that read "Arendelle Ball" I almost shrieked.
     I can see Elsa again.
I felt perplexed for a moment.  I barely even knew her.    But I was excited, almost as happy as the time my mother turned back from bear into a human.
I thought of ways to attend the ball.  Mother might be there. I can't let her see me. I'll need a disguise.

I borrowed some of my dad's clothes, grabbed  the smallest ones I could find, put on a brown wig which I found in my brother's room. God knows where it's been, but whatever.
I looked at myself in the mirror. Don't you look like a handsome Scotsman.
I went into the stable to find Angus. He panicked, jumping and neighing in a frantic motion.
"Sh sh shh it's me Merida!" I held his face. "We're going on a little adventure okay?" it took a few short seconds for Angus to recognise me after hearing my voice.
Before I could hop onto Angus I noticed the three little devils had overheard me (I can never tell them apart)
"Don't tell mom!" I begged
"Only. Only if you let us have your meals, and let us use your bow and arrows for a whole month," one of them said.
"Ughhhhhhh. Fine.  Don't you dare break my bow or I'll kill you."
I hopped onto my Angus and rode off into the woods.
I followed the same path I had once followed. Over the mountains, past the river, out of the forests, more mountains, and into the snow.
I looked around for the seventh time, then finally saw it, the snow covered palace.
"Angus! We made it back!"
"Ohh... But what am I going to do?? What am I going to tell them?"
I snapped my fingers "I'll call myself Prince... M-Meri-Martin!"
I readjusted my wig, fixed the pins that I had stuck in my hair to keep it still.
I saw the crowd entering Arendelle and followed.
There were so many men in tuxedos and women in fancy ball gowns. The kind that made me struggle to move and breathe.
That's when I saw her. She was in a long black dress that opened at her legs. It was a strange colour on her. But she looked beautiful nonetheless. I could have sworn my heart skipped a beat. Hold on. Did I just call another woman beautiful? No. It's normal. Girls compliment each other all the time.
Her her hair was down. Curled and waist length like mine. Beautiful long white locks that I imagined myself brushing.   What. Is. Wrong. With. Me?
I do not have romantic feelings for a woman. I do not have romantic feelings for a woman.
No. No. No. No. No.
Anna was in a pink dress, designed and created in shapes that looked like diamonds and roses.
Before I was able to approach Elsa I noticed someone holding her hand. Dancing. Dancing with Elsa.
He had blonde hair, he was in a blue suit and a tie. I felt a tinge of jealousy.
No. Elsa can't have found a suitor.  They're just ... having a dance.
Then someone tapped me on the shoulder. "May I have a dance?" She asked.
I remembered I was dressed as a man.  Sure, lovely lady," I said in my deepest, manliest voice.
We spun around in circles and moved left and right.  Then I stepped on the girls foot. "Ow! Watch it jerk," said the teen.
A half hour had past. After spinning around with two other girls I finally ran out of the circle and towards Elsa.
Then I saw something I dreaded that would catch me. Mom and Dad.
They were here! What were they doing here?    Oh right. The invitation, the poster.
I overheard my mother talking to another woman about me finally finding a suitor. "Ugh. My daughter Merida was supposed to come to this ball, but you know Merida. That girl will never attend a ball. Trust me I've tried forcing her," mother sighed.
I pretended to fit in and sink into the crowd.  I grabbed a drink and gulped it down.    After about a minute I realised I had drank too much of whatever it was. Then I remembered the taste. Alcohol.   I tried to stay awake and sober, but it was difficult. My wild girl side was kicking in.
Eventually I reached the Queen.  "May I have a dance? Your highness?" I asked in a smooth manly voice. She giggled.
She took my hand. Her face looked even more beautiful up close and in the light, and the way her hair was let down sent chills down my spine.
The only problem was, I couldn't control myself when I'm drunk.  Incoherence had kicked in.
