"What's going on here? Why is everyone just sitting in front of the potion's classroom?" asked Elise, who finally made it to her class after bringing Professor Garlick her new essay that she worked hard on almost all night.
Ivy and Sebastian were leaning against each other on the floor, and their snoring could be heard all the way to the end of the hallways to the Slytherin common room. Ominis was listening to everyone talk yet again, and his eyes were also closed, but he paid attention to every little detail and sound around him. He raised his head and turned toward the voice.
"Ah, Elise. Wonderful timing. Weasley was once again clever enough to cause Professor Sharp yet another problem, so now we're just enjoying this moment outside the not very breathable room, if you know what I mean."
Elise chuckled a little bit at the thought of Gareth messing up another potion that he was probably proud of. She leaned against the wall right next to Ominis, and her eyes went straight towards the other two Slytherins, who drooled all over each other.
"They will never learn, huh?"
Ominis closed his eyes once again. "Probably not, but let's hope they will at least try and stay out of trouble for at least a day or two."
"That's like asking Gareth to stop fiddling with potions."
"Ah, yes, something that he would never do."
"I'm just impressed the school doesn't make him pay for all those destroyed cauldrons."
They stood there in silence for the next ten minutes and then finally noticed the door to the classroom open. Caelum was leaning against the doorframe, and you could see the visible sweat that was on his forehead. He looked tired more than usual, but his eyes were burning with pure annoyance. He looked at Elise and Ominis and took a deep breath.
"Someone needs to help me with him, I can't go on like this. He will destroy me." Caelum begged his friends.
Elise just laughed at him and walked closer to him, grabbing him by the shoulder to support her Gryffindor friend. "I think you should buy him new cauldrons for Christmas, Caelum."
"Oh, don't you start, not you, Elise! I do not need more potions in my life, not from Gareth."
Ominis held his wand in front of his body and entered the classroom once again. This time, he could breathe freely without his consciousness leaving him. He sat next to Elise, who was still chatting with Caelum, to save him from Gareth's attention, but someone was missing.
Without any words, the students could see Professor Sharp slowly walking to the door and opening it, and when he put his hands on his waist, they knew it wouldn't be pretty. He tapped his shoe on the floor a few times, and his eyes were piercing the two Slytherins still happily snoring on the ground.
"Sebastian, shut up; you're too loud." Ivy said with a tired tone in her voice as she threw her hand on Sebastian's face.
"Mr. Sallow. Miss Talton. I hope I'm not disrupting your morning rest. I see you seem pretty comfortable; why don't you move that into my classroom right now?" He said with a louder voice and tried to resist taking yet another set of points from another house.
Ivy quickly shook her whole body and looked around. When she noticed Sebastian with his hands on her, she pushed him forcefully to the side, brushing away the dirt he might have left on her precious clothes. Sebastian woke up almost immediately when he felt the push from the girl next to her.
"Oh, come on, Sebastian, you drooled on my sleeve. That's disgusting!"
Sebastian smirked and laughed in her face as if he were almost proud of it. "Good luck getting rid of that!"
"One day, I swear to Merlin, one day I will get you back for everything!"
"If you don't want another detention this time from me, you should know better and stop wasting everybody's time right now. I want to see you in my classroom!" Professor Sharp spoke in a loud and firm voice that was coming from the room behind them.
Ivy stared down Sebastian once again and walked through the door without waiting for the boy. He just raised his eyebrows and followed her inside.
"What did you say about staying out of trouble, Ominis?" Elise said as she supported her chin with her hand.
"Forget about that, my friend; that was just my foolish mind trying to pretend those two have enough willpower to do so. I was mistaken yet again."
"Such strong words, Ominis; I don't know if you are disappointed or just used to it by now."
Ivy sat down next to Elise, and Sebastian took his place next to Ominis. Professor Sharp was finally free to start his class. Gareth was sitting in the corner of the room and was already looking at Caelum, who tried hard to blend in with the background. He wanted no attention, and he was certain that the strong smell of Gareth's potion went into his brain and made him even more tired than before.
"You two, do not forget about meeting Professor Weasley after this class. She was quite serious when she spoke to me, saying that I should remind you multiple times to meet her and not be late."
"Ominis, come on, buddy, you can trust us." Sebastian said and laughed.
"Really Sebastian? Are you certain that after all your running and ruining the school's curfew system, I can just trust you to do this? That easily? You have a long way to go, my friend, for me to trust you."
Sebastian was a little hurt by that statement, but he took it lightly. "Well, Ominis, you can't get rid of me, and you should be thankful."
"I'm so thankful it breaks my cold and dark heart, Sebastian."
Elise looked over at Ivy and gently pushed her shoulder with hers. "Be on time, Ivy, alright?"
"I'll try."
Ivy had a soft spot for Elise. She trusted her, and she felt like home, like her safe space, when there was nothing around. Ivy teased her almost daily and was rude, but the look Elise gave her made her feel sane. Something like an anchor that was signaling her to keep still and think for just a tiny moment. To keep her grounded and try.
