"I must agree with Professor Kogawa on your guys' respect towards certain objects and people," said Ominis, who was enjoying the warmth of the fireplace in the Slytherin common room. He had a wide smile on his face, and it seemed like he was pretty amazed by the news.
Sebastian was sitting in an armchair that stood right next to the dark leather sofa; Elise and Ominis were sitting on it; and Ivy was just resting her head on the carpet in front of the fireplace, not bothering with chairs or couches. It was close to their curfew, and students weren't allowed to really roam the halls or the school grounds at night.
"As I said, I don't really like flying." Sebastian folded his arms over his chest and looked away from his friend.
Ominis chuckled a little, not believing a single word. "You said that about beasts last week, Sebastian."
"Well, that was different; that bloody thing almost killed me, and don't get me started on those evil-looking eyes!"
Ivy raised her eyebrows and looked up at Sebastian. "Oh, come on, Sallow, it was only a Mooncalf. You're not that interesting for it to eat you or even hurt you."
"Did you just call me boring, seriously?!"
"Grow up, snake." Ivy smirked and closed her eyes.
It was always like this. No matter the day or time, if you heard a loud scream or some sort of noise coming from the common room, it was likely Sebastian and Ivy were either arguing about something pointless once again. They brought a lot of unwanted attention to Slytherin, and it was pretty hard to gain house points with these two causing trouble. Despite all that, they were pretty popular, and first-years tend to look up to them, which didn't really help anything.
It was usually Ominis who cleaned up messes after Sebastian and tried to keep him away from problems and detention. Elise, on the other hand, tried to calm Ivy down. She could get angry at almost anything without a single reason. She refused to wake up before her room was empty because she hated the stares of her roommates, and if you dare to speak with her in the morning before her breakfast, you can expect her to be moody all day.
"Alright, alright, we get it." Elise said as she leaned back on the couch.
"I can't believe we're just wasting our time here." Ivy was clearly bored with the conversation already.
Ominis smiles and nods. "True, wasting the hours away in our common room can be relaxing and calming, but I wouldn't mind doing something entirely different."
All of them were pretty surprised by his response.
"Who are you? Where's Ominis?" asked Elise, laughing.
"It's not like Ominis, who would be up for something we suggest," said Sebastian, getting up from his chair.
Ominis waved his hands in front of his face, regretting his decision almost immediately. "I didn't say that, Sebastian. I don't agree with anything that would put us in trouble with the school."
"Oh, come on, Gaunt, it's not like we're going to get expelled or anything; we're too amazing for that to happen."
Ivy got up and joined Sebastian; they seemed to be full of energy now that the opportunity had risen. They were ready for yet another adventure that would probably end in detention, but they liked to think otherwise.
"Sebastian, how many times were you in detention this week?"
"Like twice?"
Ominis scoffs and shakes his head. "Five times, Sebastian, five! And I had to get you out, five times!"
"Alright, alright, I get it, you want a cookie or something?"
Ivy looked at Sebastian. "Do you have cookies?"
"Seriously?" Sebastian said and looked at his friend, who really just wanted the cookie.
"I'm staying here. I have some assignments for tomorrow that I need to finish. Professor Garlick wasn't really impressed with my latest essay on mandrakes, so I have to rewrite all of it."
Elise usually paid attention during classes, but for some reason, Herbology was her biggest enemy. She was impressed by Professor Garlick and her temper. Dealing with all those different plants and flowers would be the death of her, but the professor apparently found some type of peace in them.
Ominis seemed to approve of that idea. "At least someone seems to know what's good for our house."
"Do you really want to win Professor Garlick's respect that much, Elise? Don't make a fool of yourself." said Ivy, who seemed to be heading towards the staircase that led outside the common room.
At this point, Elise didn't really take Ivy's comment as something negative, she got used to that pretty quickly.
"Just make sure you two get back here before the curfew, okay? I don't want to sneak around the castle again just to find you."
"I'm definitely not doing that again." Ominis agreed.
"We get it, mom, don't worry." Ivy said and ran up the staircase.
"And Sebastian?" shouted Ominis.
"Yeah?"
"No dark magic, understand?"
Sebastian sighed and raised his eyebrows. "Really?"
"Yes, really."
"That was like two times and nobody saw anything, I promise, alright? No dark magic in the castle."
Ominis took a deep breath, clearly not satisfied with his answer. "Anywhere, Sebastian, anywhere!"
"Okay! I understand!"
Both of them quickly disappeared, and now it was just Elise and Ominis in the quiet common room. Some of the students were already asleep, some of them were probably still studying, and some stayed in other parts of the common room.
"You know they're not going to be back before curfew, right?" asked Ominis, who expected yet another problem on their hands.
"I'm surprised you had hope for them."
"Don't take me for a fool, Elise. Those two need to understand that sometimes being calm and collected isn't such a bad thing."
"You would know best, Ominis, and that's why you are my favorite." Elise chuckled and slowly moved to her dormitory.
Ominis stayed in the common room. For some reason, he was hoping that Sebastian and Ivy would return before the curfew and that he could finally have some peace. He pulled out a book and tried to forget about those two for a moment.
