"Now I want you to be nice, Ivy, understand?" Elise speaks before opening the door to the class.
A pretty closed-up room with a lot of wooden tables and cauldrons brewing different kinds of potions was all around them. Shelves and cabinets filled with ingredients and other equipment. At the end was a small round table, where Professor Sharp sat. Multiple students were already walking around and getting ready for the class, and one of them was the short girl from Ravenclaw, who had a puzzled look on her face.
Ivy followed her friend and stepped into the classroom. After all, it was her favorite class, but something was ruining it. She could feel the tension already, and Elise noticed it almost immediately.
"Remember what we said."
"Oh, I'm trying, believe me." Ivy said when she moved to a table with multiple small cauldrons on it. Elise walked past her and moved to a cauldron right next to her. More students entered the classroom, and more Slytherin members took their place next to Ivy and Elise.
Nobody said anything; all of them were just watching Ivy, who was staring into the distance. Two boys who joined them carefully studied the situation.
"I don't want to pry, but I sense like there is tension around this particular table. Care to enlighten me?" Said Ominis, who noticed that something was wrong.
Elise just shook her head and tried to ignore Ivy's stare, which was aimed at someone who was sitting on the other side of the class. "The usual."
"Don't tell me that you two are still going after each other. You sure are persistent, Ivy." The other boy laughed and crossed his hands on his chest.
Ivy turned towards the two boys and frowned. "Don't you get sick of her comments about everything we say, Sebastian? She treats Slytherins like some rats just because our common room is in the dungeons."
"I'm sure she doesn't think that, and besides, I saw you two hanging out last week. You were practically glued to the windows of Honeydukes, staring at their sweets." Elise points out and supports her chin with her hand.
Sebastian smirks. It was easy to imagine Ivy drooling over chocolate and sweets, and the same could be said about Devika. Despite her knowledge and her calm nature, she could get very passionate when it came to something that had sugar in it, and Ivy was usually the one who sneaked inside Honeydukes almost every week to steal their supply.
"I do appreciate the free supply of chocolate." Ominis whispers to himself as if he were ashamed of his sweet tooth.
Ivy kept frowning. She didn't want to admit that she was actually close to the Ravenclaw girl, but her hatred for her didn't leave her mind just yet.
"You two should really talk to each other. I can feel like she doesn't appreciate the look you are apparently giving her." Ominis points it out, looking to the side.
"I'm not gonna lie, but I'm pretty sure she knows that you're staring again, Ivy." Sebastian said, turning his head towards the girl, sitting in front of her cauldron, surrounded by her Ravenclaw friends.
When he finished his sentence, all of them noticed that the short girl finally stood up, fixed up her uniform and robe, and confidently took a step towards them. Sebastian, Elise, and Ivy quickly looked down at their cauldrons as if they noticed something in them and pretended like nothing happened.
"Well, if it isn't my favorite group of Slytherins," the girl says with a warm smile.
It's not like she hated all Slytherins; she was just convinced that they did not possess the same amount of knowledge as Ravenclaws, and she would do anything to prove that she was right.
Everyone was quiet, especially Ivy, so Ominis had to be the one who broke the weird silence surrounding them. "Hello there, Devika. Do you need anything?"
"Gentleman as always, Gaunt. Nothing in particular. I just noticed that a bunch of curious eyes were staring at me and my friends, and I just simply wanted to know what caught your attention."
Her eyes immediately went towards Ivy, who was struggling to keep quiet. "You guys are awfully quiet today." She said and forced out a surprised look on her face.
"It's the first class of the day, you know how it is. Everyone is still a little tired." Elise said, trying to smile the entire time and not say anything that would set a bad example.
"I don't think I can agree to that. Being a morning person and all that. I've been awake for several hours now. I guess Slytherins like their sleep extra long."
Sebastian smirked again and rolled his eyes. He was a fan of Devika for her teasing of other students, but he couldn't help but be a little annoyed when she basically insulted his house.
"Alright, what's your problem?" Ivy finally spoke and stood up, slamming her palms against the table.
Elise placed her hand on her forehead and let out a quiet sigh.
"Here we go." Ominis whispered.
Sebastian had an amused look on his face. As if he was waiting for this to happen and was excited to see what's next.
"I wasn't the one who was staring." Devika says calmly.
Ivy walks around the tables and stops right in front of the Ravenclaw girl, looking down at her. "I told you not to do this."
"Maybe, but I have no idea why you should be so mad over such a small thing. It seems like you always want to cause a scene."
Ivy crossed her arms over her chest and looked to the side. Everybody was watching the two standing next to each other. They knew that none of them would back down.
"My opinion still stands. Liquorice wands are utter rubbish. The worst candy!" Devika says, crossing her arms as well.
Ivy opens her mouth in disbelief and raises her voice. "How could you say that!"
All the other Slytherins just pause for a moment and frown in confusion.
"Wait a minute, this whole argument was all about Liquorice wands?" Elise stands up and looks at both of the girls in front of her.
"I just think they're disgusting. I prefer Chocolate wands." Devika says. She seemed to be proud of her opinion.
"As a boring Ravenclaw, I bet you enjoy chocolate more than something that actually has a flavor!"
Devika puts her hands on her waist and then points at Ivy, clearly annoyed by that statement. "You take that back! Ravenclaw is a prestige house with a deep story!"
The arguments kept going for about 10 minutes before Professor Sharp finally entered the classroom and sat down behind his table.
"Well, I certainly did not expect that." Ominis said amused.
Sebastian chuckles. "It's going to be a long day."
