Chapter 3
The First Move
SebastianSebastian watch Jordan eat silently, every now and then she'd eye him over her fork. She was rather scrawny without the layers of fur over her, Sebastian couldn't help but worry about it. She didn't look injured from what he could tell, nor sick from the weather. Biron stayed perched on the table, if he could speak he didn't and instead ruffled his feathers.
"How did you make it up the mountain?" Sebastian asked, it took a while to get up the mountain on a good day let alone during a storm and not only was Jordan not built to take such a climb but did it alone.
Jordan gulped down her water "I climbed"
Sebastian huffed "I know that, I meant how were you able to climb? A storm blew through here, no one but me and Thomas can get through that alone."
Jordan brought the bread to her lips taking a big bite of it "you have powers, right?" She asked spilling crumbs across the table; Sebastian nodded his eye twitching at the mess, Biron flew over onto his shoulders.
"I do too, father said yours is the ability to have wings and control light" Jordan rambled, she must know a lot more about Sebastian then he thought "I know all about your group, kind of like those hero's you hear in books. I know your powers, skills, backstories-"
"How?" Sebastian cut her off, Jordan looked surprised "you don't know? Your famous everyone knows about the heroes who tried to stop the door... or open it." Sebastian hummed.
Sebastian wasn't entirely new to fame; his mother was very infamous in Kershel so he experienced both sides of it. Sometimes it came with benefits, free food or more attention. But Sebastian was never really interested in that, and he fellow hunters were exactly happy about his special treatment. So younger Sebastian's social circle remained with Thomas, Clark, and Robin, until now obviously.
"How did you get up the mountain?" He asked again, Jordan rolled her eyes "I climbed! I use my powers to protect me from the storm."
Sebastian's eyebrows raised "what are they?" Jordan smiled in excitement "it's hard to explain, it's like I can command the wind. I can fly, redirect it" Sebastian felt his lips quirk and he huffed satisfied "okay, now eat your food."
Jordan gasped leaning over the table "was that a smile?" Sebastian felt his face drop as he left and entered the kitchen "no, eat" Jordan chuckled and continued to eat.
Sebastian bent down to grab a bowl and filled it with water, Jordan called from the living room "does that mean you're done with questions?"
"No, you were supposed to come a lot sooner, why are you only here now?" Sebastian asked, Jordan groaned. Sebastian pulled up a chair and placed the bowl on the table, Biron hopped off and happily drank.
"I got caught up in some school stuff" she said sheepishly, Sebastian was surprised; Jordan was a bad liar.
"What happened?" Sebastian leaned forward slightly concerned, Jordan leaned back "nothing, honest! I just had to do some schooling"
Sebastian's face didn't change "schooling? For a year?"
Jordan sweated a little "yes?"Sebastian ran a hand through his hair, he looked at Biron who was now sitting in his water like it was a birdbath, Sebastian tried to remain civilised and not throw him out another window.
"Look, I know you grew up in the temples north of Arcon. You did school there, Biron said you are smart, you finished by the time you were fifteen."
Jordan sunk into her chair eyeing the bird like she was considering frying it "and I know... I know your parents passed too-" Jordan sat up "-I know you have been alone, so what happened?" the face Jordan made looked a lot like Sebastian's, blank and long staring.
