Chapter 10
Crossbow
LinaeSong: Sonne by Rammstein
The archer gang's camp was filled with victims from the attack at the dock, most were displaced persons needing a place to stay. Few were injured but the ones that were, were looked over by volunteers. Linae had the hard task of making sure everyone was where they needed to be, as well as keeping her lead team in line. Her team consisted of Annie, Emilia, and Trevor, all three have been rushing in and out of her tent with about a hundred questions to her few answers. Thankfully a few days have passed since the attack and the rush of chaos has slowed down.
Today however Linae must've overslept because she awoke to her name "Linae?" A hand gently patted her shoulder, Linae lifted her head from her desk, Emilia careful peeled paper from her cheek.
"What time is it?" Was the first thing Linae asked "its lunch time" Emilia placed down a plate for assorted fruits.
"How's the camp? Were we able to get another set of tents along the left-" Emilia shushed Linae by pushing the plate forward "eat then we work." Linae withheld a grumble and quickly began to eat.
While she did Linae took in Emilia's appearance, she wore the same thing she did yesterday baggy blue pants and a blood-stained singlet, Linae put together that Emilia hasn't been home in a while.
"How's your brother?" Linae's question made Emilia wince "he's..." she hesitated, and Linae sighed "still somewhere in the capital?" Emilia shrugged "probably getting wasted in some bar" she sat down in front of Linae's desk.
Linae's tent hadn't changed much, Robin's stuff was still around waiting for when he'd come back. Unlike Robin, Kiren had taken his things and left into the capital of Arcon 'Lavern'. Some kind of fall out happened between him and his parents and now Linae hasn't seen him for a month now.
"He'll come back" Linae said though she wasn't sure, Emilia just sighed leaning back in her seat "I don't think he will. Not unless someone makes him"
Linae poked at her fruit before asking tentatively "what happened?" Emilia ran her hands through her hair to comfort herself "Kiren and dad, uh, Soren. Had an argument and Escell got involved, it got messy it was bound to happen"
Emilia looked away "I guess things got too much for him and he left; he's good at avoiding getting caught too, so none of us have seen him. We just know he's alive." Linae sighed and stood up from her chair, she offered Emilia what was left of the fruit which were primary strawberries.
Emilia accepted it and stuffed them in her mouth as she pouted "what should we do?" Linae shrugged "wait for the others to arrive, Sebastian can get him" Emilia took a moment to recall what Sebastian looked like.
While she did Linae began to get ready "did we get the tents for the left side?" She asked again as she took her coat from the back of her chair. "We did" Emilia replied, "we also got a new wave of displacements which now take up what space was leftover"
Linae paused halfway through tugging her jacket on "what?" She pulled it all the way onto her shoulders "why wouldn't you wake me for that?"
Emilia smiled handing Linae her boots "I was going to, but Annie handled it"
Annie has been handling most of Linae's job since she left the archer gang to follow Atticus on his quest. Despite been back for a year it was hard for both Linae and her gang to get used to her returned leadership, however Annie seemed to continue her role as leader with natural skill.
