Chapter 4
Figuring it out
RobinA light green dress with a golden floral pattern and a cream centre piece is laid out on Robin's bed, made out of silk with sewn in gold and crystal flowers. It was a very expensive dress, a gift from Calvin back when Robin had first arrived in Perdia. Calvin got one for Judith too, blue with white lace.
Robin picked it up recognising it, his ears flushed bright red at the memory attached to the item of clothing "bloody..." he sighed and began to change.
Ditching his dirty lab clothes, they stepped into the dress; the sleeves hung loosely off his wrists. The skirt flowed from their rib cage down to their knees, with some free ribbons from his shoulder blades to his ankles. Robin looked in the mirror sighing as they looked at the mess of hair on his head and ran his hands through it, he could feel the thick stickiness from sweat and whatever potion blew up.
By that point a knock came to the door and Viresa poked her head in.
"Oh, sorry should I come back?" She went to close the door.
"Wait! Can you help me?" Robin gestured to his hair.
Viresa stepped back into the room looking him up and down "oh sweet child" she seemed to be struggling to keep her laughter at bay, she waved him over to the bathroom "come on let's fix it."
Robin followed after her as she turned on a tap, hot water poured out into a basin. The bathroom was relatively small, Perdians didn't particularly like big flashy designs like Arcon. In fact, most of the palace was more traditional and practical. Viresa twisted the tap a bit more and hummed as it reached a warm temperature.
"Okay come here" she pulled up a stool and tapped the seat. Robin sat down facing away from the basin, Viresa gently tipped his head back till his hair fell into the sink and water began ran down his forehead.
"What was in that potion?" She chuckled running her hands through Robin's hair.
"Honestly I don't know" Viresa laughs despite Robin's seriousness. Viresa was surprisingly soft as she brushed Robin's hair out, every now and then there'd be a slight tug as she detangled another strand.
"So" Robin paused awkwardly "how's work been?"
Viresa sighed "busy, been the head of strategy has it's perks, but can it get messy."
Politics were never Robin's strong suit, after the battle at Veia Judith had received many letters from many people. Viresa warned her not to answer them till she arrived in Perdia, there Viresa and the Perdian Empress looked over the letters and discussed with Judith. Eventually it was announced the heir to Arcon will spend time in Perdia to learn the ways or ruling that her father refused to teach her. Judith's people had mixed feelings about the result of the battle, rumours spread like wild fire when her father returned in chains. Majority of the people saw his corruption back when the group fled Arcon, the mass arrests of good people suspected of treason; Groups of Veia soldiers stalking streets searching for a reason to slam their boots into someone.
In the end Arcon supported its heir to the throne and waited patiently for her return. With Judith out of the picture the remaining members of the society from the first war returned to light offering to build a temporary council till the return of the crown. The population agreed and they created the Gold Circle Council or the GCC. The golden represented magic and compassion, the circle means honesty, trust, and connection. It also represented movement and progress like a river. The Golden Circle was made up of Atticus and his parents, the Ova family, trust worthy court advisers, and a few public members appointed by the citizens. They've been running things smoothly for almost a year now, and soon Judith would return to the throne to lead in there stead.
