Prompt: Everyday, the same thing keeps happening...

Story Entry;

Everyday, the same thing keeps happening...

Everyday, the same thing keeps happening. I stand in front of the mirror, thinking about my body being a sacred country. But it's another day where I regret being a part of this human society, one who fails to conform to the its constructed ideal of beauty.

As the days continue their relentless march forward, I find myself sinking deeper into the abyss of dwindling self-esteem. Every passing moment becomes an opportunity to fixate on the details of my perceived flaws. A particular point of focus is my eyes, which I often refer to as the "human headlamp" due to their noticeable defect. Leaning in closer to the mirror, a realization dawns upon me that I've forgotten my glasses, what I need to see with clarity.  It is during these instances that my heterochromia takes the spotlight, setting me apart from the rest of my family and peers in an unmistakably distinct manner.

The societal portrayal of having a distinct eye color as aesthetically pleasing may deceive one into believing it brings no consequences. However, this couldn't be further from the truth, as it often leads to becoming the subject of discussions and hushed whispers in any given setting. Regrettably, my decision to get a recommended lense worsens the situation. It seems that these individuals cannot go a single day without objectifying girls who wear lenses, using their imaginations to mold them into some sort of undercover adult film stars. Sadly, they fail to recognize that I am simply attempting to correct a natural defect with which I was born.

And then, there's my dentition, the aspect that fills me with the most dislike. It plays a significant role in shaping my introverted tendencies, making me hide under the guise of being antisocial. Unapologetically, it highlights the blatant truth whenever I find something or someone humorous, my appearance taking a turn for the hideous. An ideal opportunity for my peers to unleash their taunts, subjecting me to relentless mockery for a trait I had no hand in creating. "Your teeth looks like London bridge collapsed on it," the things they say.
