It was chaos. Students were crying, screaming, and running everywhere. Teachers and chaperones tried to maintain order, but soon they were shoved to the ground by the 'guards'.

"Don't run! Fight back!" Cat shouted. She had hoped to end the night without any incident, "...but no... not even six dances in, and they just had to interrupt," She moped.

From across the dance floor Jane, Richard, Lizzy, and Henry had regrouped. They waved for Cat to join them, but the river of frantic students prevented her from crossing through. She stayed at the edge of the crowd and spotted David fighting against some guards. It was three against one, and they were quickly gaining the upper hand. She ran towards him and pulled out her sword. She swung it wildly, pushing some of the guards away, but one managed to sneak behind her and grab her arm. The guard yanked her forwards but David's hand clasped around hers and thrust the sword into the henchman's side. She was disgusted by how easily the sword slipped into his body and hot blood gushed out from the wound. He fell over, groaning in pain.

Cat's eyes grew wide, "D-did I just kill a man?"

"Ehh-- I think he's still breathing." David quickly took her sword and finished off the remaining two before handing it right back to her.

"Cat, follow me," David called but she remained frozen in place. He snapped his fingers in front of her before cupping her face and forcing her to look at him. "We can't think of them right now, we need to run!" David grabbed her hand and pulled her into the kitchen where they hid behind a counter.

The shouts grew louder. "They went in there!" The kitchen doors slammed open. It was Charles' friends: Michael and John.

"Oh, David," John taunted, stretching the scar across his face. "It's been a while, hasn't it? We know you're in here, why don't you come on out? We simply want to talk."

"Come out, come out, wherever you are," Micheal jeered. "And don't forget to bring the pretty bird with you—ah! There you are!"

David bared his teeth as he protectively covered Cat, but Micheal yanked him away by his shirt.

John came from behind and lifted Cat into the air. She kicked and swung her sword behind her, but he managed to grab her arm and hold it at bay.

"You leave her alone!" David punched John's face.

"That'll be the last time you do that!" Michael took out a gun and shoved it into his chest.

"No!" Before she could think, she kicked herself forwards and shoved her sword into Michael's stomach. In the blink of an eye, David snatched the gun from Michael's grasp, smacked it across his temple, and kicked him away. He then turned on John and shot him in the chest. The commotion threw the attention of more guards. David pulled Cat behind him and took aim at the men coming inside. Each bang shook Cat to her core. She covered her ears and shut her eyes.

Silence befell the room, but she only clasped her hands harder against her ears.

Cat was in shock. Her whole body trembled. David didn't know what to do. Shouts and chaos from outside were drawing nearer. They needed to leave and join the rest. Maria was still missing. Robin was nowhere to be found–but his heart pained for Cat, there was no way this was easy for her.

"Cat? Catalina, you alright there?" David carefully pried her hands from her ears and she slowly opened her eyes. Her eyes were dilated and unfocused.

His thumbs rubbed her cheeks, slowly drawing warmth to her face, "You didn't do anything wrong."

She numbly shook her head. Her eyes still stared straight through him.
