CHAPTER 4: MAKING WAVES

Kanan POV

All of us were at the beach for the fishing competition as we were joined by Hayley's dad.

I was currently wearing a green sleeveless shirt and navy blue shorts. Rose was wearing a blue dress and a hat on her head to try and keep the sun out of her eyes as she held her bucket and spade. Keigo was wearing a yellow shirt with red shorts. He held my hand as the three of us walked towards the stage.

"Welcome to the Summer Cove's Big Catch Competition! Out in them there waters, lives the biggest fish that ye ever did see. His name is Bruiser and he is a crafty one. Use whatever clever lures or secret tricks you want and if any of you mateys catch him, you will win this trophy!" Captain Shaw announced as he held up the trophy. "Off ye go, buccaneers! Get fishin'! Best of luck to yah!" he said as all of us started to walk towards the water.

"Thanks for letting us help you out in the fishing competition, dad. It sounds like it's going to be a blast!" Hayley said.

"No problem, honey. Wait until you see what I've got to help us out" Hayley's dad said.

"Oh cool...but what is it?" Preston asked as all of us went towards a drone as Rose was ahead of us a little bit.

"Mommy, can I play on the sand please?" Rose asked.

"Yeah, you can but make sure that all of us can see you ok and don't get any sand in your wings" I said. "Ok mommy" Rose said as she started to play on the sand nearby.

"This is my Diver Drone! It's programmed to find anything that is really unusual. Like a huge fish" Hayley's dad said.

"Whoa, what's that?" Brody asked as he pointed to a part of the drone.

"It's my custom net cannon so I can fish without hurting them. This competition is the perfect time to test it out" Mr Foster said. "Do any of you guys want to put it into the water?" he asked.

"Ok" Preston said as him and Calvin grabbed the drone and placed in the water.

"Whoa" Levi and Keigo said as the drone went into the water.

"These dots on the radar are the really small ones. We got to wait for some big ones and catch it" Mr Foster said.

"Did your dad really built that?" Sarah asked.

"Yeah, he's a marine biologist. He used the drone to study marine life" Hayley said.

"That means you saw a bunch of different fish" I said.

"Yeah...it's pretty cool" Hayley said.

"Ooh, I think I got something! It's got to be Bruiser. It's time to deploy the net cannon!" Mr Foster said as he deployed the net, then the radar stopped. "What happened?" he asked as the drone came back up to the surface.

"Look over there!" Calvin said as he and Preston went towards it and took the drone out the water.

"I'm so sorry, dad. That doesn't look good" Hayley said as Calvin and Preston set the drone onto the sand.

"Oh no...my Diver Drone" Mr Foster said.

"Hi Sarah!" Jackie Thompson, Sarah's mom greeted when she came over to us.

"Oh, hi mom! What are you doing here?" Sarah asked as she was hugging her.

"I thought maybe I would try and catch Bruiser too. What is going on here?" Jackie said.

"The net is ruined and the circuits are fried. It looks like it found something that's made of...metal?" Mr Foster said as he took a piece off the net.

"Aww, dad. I'm sorry" Hayley said.
