CHAPTER 7: THE NEED FOR SPEED

Kanan POV

All of us were outside at the racetrack to see if Sarah will try to beat the World Speed Record.

"Ladies and gentlemen, today Sarah Thompson will try and break the world's hoverboard speed record" the judge announced when all of us were clapping and cheering for Sarah. "You will get one lap around the track, if you can beat the current record, this trophy is yours" she said.

All of us were still cheering for Sarah. Then Sarah started to ride on her hoverboard really fast.

"There's someone else on the track!" Brody said as we saw another person on the track.

The two of them crossed the finish line with Sarah behind the mysterious figure.

"That's a new world record. He has beaten the old record by ten seconds" the judge said. "Who is that mystery man?" she asked.

"It's me, Victor Vincent" Victor said as he went up to the front. "I did it! I've finally won my fiftieth trophy!" he said as the crowd were cheering.

"Victor is the undisputed champ!" Monty said.

"I'm sorry that you weren't the one to break the speed record, Sarah" I said.

"Man, Victor will do anything to get himself a trophy" Calvin said.

All of us were back at school as we were playing some pool as Sarah was working on something and my dad is teaching his lesson with Rose was in the lesson with him. 

"I missed again!" Calvin said.

"You'll get it, Cal. Come on, Sarah. It's your shot" Brody told her as all of us looked over at her.

"Can somebody shot for me? I need to finish this" Sarah said as she continued to work on something.

"Uh, Sarah?" I asked.

"Yeah" Sarah said.

"What are you doing?" Keigo asked.

All of us went up to Sarah.

"I'm currently working on a new air foil suit. It will reduce my wind drag" Sarah said.

"Oh, right. So you can break the speed record" Hayley said.

"Exactly" Sarah said.

There was some cheering as all of us saw people carrying Victor and some confetti was thrown.

Sarah broke her pencil in half.

"Autographs is going to be in the classroom. Oh, hello. It looks like someone's jealous" Victor said. 

"Victor" Sarah stated as she stood up. Keigo back away a bit as he was pulling me away. "Once I'm finished with my air foil suit, your record will be toast" she told him.

"Listen slowpoke, this trophy is mine" Victor said.

"Not for long" Sarah said as she walked away.

Preston and Hayley were sitting at the back of Calvin's car as Brody and Levi were sitting at the back of his car. Me, my dad and Keigo were sitting at the back of my dad's car. Me and Keigo were holding hands as Rose was sitting on my leg.

"Hey guys" Calvin said as he came over to us. "Um, she's putting on her new racing suit before she is going to test it. So, it will be another minute or so" he said.

"Cool" Preston said as he got off the trunk as he was holding Sarah's hoverboard.

"Is she taking his speed record a little bit too seriously?" Levi asked.
