The day, after the field trip, was announced as a holiday, due to a festival. Anu lounged around on her couch. She was already done looking through the notebooks for correction. She rolled around, browsing Netflix.

This was one of those days in which nothing interested her. It was the worst kind of days.

She rolled once more, landing on the soft carpet under the couch. She lay face down there for a long time. She wanted to scream. How could she not have anything to do.

She couldn't even come up with an idea to write.

She sat up, brushing strands of her hair away from her face. Then, she let out a sigh. Anu was at a loss. Her phone vibrated, signaling a notification. She picked it up and gazed at it with lazy eyes.

Then, she sat up straight with wide eyes. It was Vineet.

Vineet

Do you want to come over to my apartment in the evening?
11.20 AM

Anu blinked.

Anuradha

What's the plan?
11.21 AM

Vineet

I thought we could have dinner together?
11.22 AM

Dinner?

Anuradha

Sure, I'll come over
11.22 AM

Vineet

Ok
11.23 AM

Anuradha stared at her phone screen. She wondered why he was proposing dinner together all of a sudden.

On the other side of the wall, Vineet held onto his pillow, staring at his phone on the table. His lips were lifted into a smirk.

A few hours back, his grandma had called him, asking for updates on his pursuing her.

"You haven't done anything?!"

Vineet didn't say anything, afraid of causing a heart attack.

"This boy...You have so many good points. You need to highlight them and charm her!"

Vineet rubbed the back of his neck. "Grandma, we just met again, a week or so back. I can't be too fast. I need to-"

"The fastest cat gets the milk, boy."

Vineet paused. He had never heard that quote before.

"You just follow my instructions, okay? First, invite her to dinner and cook her a meal. You're excellent at cooking. Show her that you're a catch!"

Vineet nodded.

The first step of the plan was complete. Vineet walked over to his refrigerator and inspected the vegetables he had. He nodded to himself, he'll make the best dinner she has ever had!

It was 7 PM. Anu waited outside, after ringing the doorbell. She hadn't wanted to be overly dressed up for a simple home dinner. But she didn't want to be under dressed either. For women, dressing up was a weapon. If they had dressed up well, they were equipped to handle any situation.
