PRELUDE

the sky was adorned with cotton-like clouds which sun beams shone through, a breeze making the trees dance in union as the old woman sipped her tea in the peace of nature. a grin broke out on her lips as she heard the distant sound of her son and grandson.

"soobin-ah be careful the grass is a little damp!" her son exclaimed as her 4 year-old grandson ran across the small garden towards her.

"grandma!" he shouted with his cute voice, causing her to laugh softly as she hugged the little boy. her son—the little boy's father sighed, sitting across his mom as his son sat on her laps. "how are you doing mom?" he asked, relaxing a bit after a tiresome ride of trying to keep soobin in check. the boy was so energetic all the time and would never get tired. the old woman nodded with a smile, ruffling soobin's hair who seemed to sit still only with his grandma.

"can soobin stay with you today? sooji is sick so danbi took her to hospital, and i need to go to the police station for an emergency. i can't take soobin or he'll probably set the police station on fire and let free some criminal." he chuckled as soobin reached for his grandma's tea cup only to pull back when the woman shook her head, he obediently nodded and sat still. "of course, you can go son." she smiled as her son left with a sigh, his son was so obedient around his mom.

she could feel soobin was getting bored already so she laughed softly and patted his cheek "do you want to know a fairy tale?" she asked to which the little boy frowned in confusion, he didn't know what it meant but nodded anyways.

"how about the famous fairytale with its unknown ending?" she asked and the confused boy nodded again but with an excited smile this time.

Angel and Star

once upon a time, there lived people in a faraway kingdom called "shiny nights" It was named after how starry the night sky was there. and the people of the kingdom mostly biased a star called "balg-eun" which meant bright.

the star was the brightest among all of the other stars; even the moon couldn't shine the way she did. the angels of the heavens also loved the star as she made everyone's day in the kingdom and made many desperate wishes come true under her light. but one night, one unfortunate night, out of nowhere, balgeun was gone.

everyone was gloomy, and they all missed balgeun.

weeks passed, and balgeun never came back. it never once shone again. that worried the angels, as they weren't happy that the people of the kingdom were all sad and depressed because of the star's disappearance. and that's when an angel decided to find the star and bring her back to the people. he knew something was wrong and he wanted to help balgeun.

did he succeed?

she grinned at the confused expression on the little boy's face as he tilted his head "were the angel and balgeun close friends?" he asked, wanting to clear his confusion. but the old woman only shook her head which only added to soobin's confusion instead of decreasing it "but then why did he want to bring her back and help her shine again if they weren't friends?" the old woman laughed "because he liked helping others." she ruffled the little boy's hair.

"is it good to help others?" his grandma nodded, smiling "of course" little soobin hummed and got off her laps with a smile "then i'll also help others!" his grandma smiled proudly and clapped "of course my good boy, you are a capable and kind angel you should help people and let it make you feel good about yourself"
