Searching through the books of the Nightshades Library became a priority once Wednesday was free from the Infirmary, but they began to give their partners more affection, specifically in the evenings whenever Tara asked to cuddle. They didn't understand it fully, but while studying the books in the library they often enjoyed sitting with their mates, the three of them reading different books. At times, even Thing would join them in their search, but they were unable to find the information they needed. The most recent missing peoples cases had pieces of the corpses removed, so Wednesday had to wonder if the monster was killing people and another individual was collecting parts for something. However, they didn't know what the parts were for.
Assigning Thing to go to the morgue to research, They focused on their task of whooing Enid, who had started to get a little flustered around Amber and Tara after the Poe cup. It felt as if she were falling for the two of them before themselves. Truthfully, it didn't mind since they would all be dating anyways, but it was still upsetting to realize. They would have to give her a gift, and they knew that werewolves often gave each other their kills.
But it didn't seem to be a good idea to give her a human.
Sighing, their thoughts came to a halt and they pouted, curling into the touch of their mates.
"How does one tame a wolf?" Their question was muffled by Tara's shirt, and she blushed as Wednesday nuzzled against the fabric and accidentally pressed their nose into her cleavage.
"With treats! they're like dogs, just a little more aggressive." Amber glanced down at Wednesday, smirking at the way they cuddled into Tara's touch and was unaware of her embarrassment. Tara ran a hand through their hair, providing comfort in her touch since she knew it could easily calm them down.
"Cupcakes perhaps? I know a horrible recipe for them."
"You mean those awesome Dead Velvet cupcakes? I want one!" They were made with coffee grounds, blood and grinded meat. It was easy, and the icing was made with a cyanide base, which provided more flavor to the treats. Wednesday was good at making them, so they planned to visit the kitchens to begin their treat for Enid soon.
"Dead Velvet? Your family really likes death to be in the name of stuff." Wednesday rose an eyebrow, pulling themselves away from Tara's touch with a soft huff.
"It is tradition. I'm sure your family has something similar, my little gunslinger." They held her chin, stroking her cheek with a gentle thumb. Amber bit her lip, watching the display of softness coming from Wednesday. She was just a little jealous.
"The monster, should we try to find it? Look around the forest when we get the chance?"
"Of course, it's why I requested for Thing to get the information. I would go myself, but the morgue always makes me... Different..."
"Crazy, you mean." Amber smiled, patting Wednesday's leg and watching them blush, the little noise of agreement coming from them making Amber feel a mix of pitty and frustration. She felt bad for Wednesday, considering they were constantly a step away from losing themselves to endless starvation.
"Yes, I suppose that word works well for my state of hunger."
Amber laughed softly, her hand on Wednesday's thigh as she tried to cheer them up.
"it's ok, We like crazy." Tara blushed, but nodded in agreement, her hand reaching up to hold the hand resting on her cheek. Wednesday was sweet, but they would never admit it.
"Of course, thank you both. Now, about that monster. Perhaps tonight we can track it down and get some answers, or simply kill it if you both prefer."
"Yeah, let's stab it!"
"I think shooting it may be better Dear, just to avoid getting hurt."
"Amber doesn't believe in injuries, Final Girl. Just look at her neck."

Lurking in forests was one of Wednesday's preferred past times, they felt at home among the tall foliage and foggy nights. The forest was the perfect place to hunt, the perfect place to press kisses against bare skin and leave marks to claim across their mates bodies. They were passing the time, waiting and hoping, scouring through the bits of history left behind, tearing apart the burnt remains of the old meeting house, hoping that someone could find some sort of clue. They hadn't accounted for the homeless man in the ruined house, but it was easy to get rid of him, easy to attack and maim him. Amber watched quietly, glancing back at Tara who was hunched in the corner with a hand over her mouth. She was shaking, seemingly in a state of shock due to hearing the poor man being butchered behind her.
They stayed in an eerie state of silence after the screams ended, Tara falling to her knees and puking in the corner, Amber reaching over and pulling her hair away from her face. Wednesday was kneeling on the ground, lingering over the barely left together body, large slices and bites taken out of flesh, the mauled corpse was missing a leg and his face wss unrecognizable, his chest torn open snd his innards entirely removed. Wednesday was covered in blood, their clothes unable to be salvaged as blood stained their face and hands, bits of flesh still stuck in their nails and teeth. Wednesday looked bashful, unable to watch Tara in the corner. The three stayed like that for minutes, at least until Tara was done being sick. She gasped and coughed, Amber rubbing her back and picking her up carefully.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you Ill." They spoke quietly, guilt climbing up their very throat and forcing the words out. Usually, they would never apologize, but these were their partners, their mates, their very world.
"I-" Tara covered her mouth again, legs curling up closer to her chest. "It's ok, I know you can't help it."
Tara smiled, sighing against Amber as Wednesday stood up and approached, looking up at Amber for a moment before looking down at Tara, then to their blood covered hands.
"I wish to kiss you to console you, but I'm currently in need of a towel." Amber snorted and Tara couldn't help laughing, her smile growing a little at Wednesday's enduring behavior.
"It's alright hon, just... I'll hold your hand for now, yeah?" Tara reached out, taking Wednesday's hand and letting them press a small kiss to her knuckles. It made her skin crawl, her stomach clenching, she wasn't completely sure her to feel now. Perhaps becoming a proxy was affecting her more than she expected, maybe she was going a little crazy, but that was fine. Her lovers liked crazy after all.
"Do we wan-" Amber was starting to speak, before they all felt a presence near them, it was malicious, wrong, and it smelled horrible. They heard the roar past the wooden beams and rotting stones, but then they saw it. Their Monster was here.
