-Nothing to see here, just Fwhip scheming, Gem being a worried sister, and Jimmy trying to pretend nothing is happening. You know, the usual. Sorry I took so long to update, I got distracted reading other people's amazing fics. I hope you enjoy the chapter!-
Fwhip PoV
Everything was going according to plan. The medallion had been recovered and awakened, now he could track it more easily. The only snag was the person who happened to find said medallion. Jimmy didn't seem like a threat, easily manipulated, but Fwhip had been fooled before. He glanced at his sister, who was currently working on that day's math homework, blowing through sheet after sheet with ease. That was another problem with the plan, Gem, as of now, did not know about the plan.
She would try and stop you, you can't let that happen.
Maybe it wouldn't be the end of the world if she knew a little bit, I might be able to convince her to help.
No. It's too much of a risk. Manipulate the situation, watch from afar, only interfere when necessary.
He focused back on his own homework, an essay about the history of empires. He and Gem were currently staying in the Grimlands district, and Fwhip had to admit that for the mortal realm, it was actually pretty well built. He enjoyed the steampunk aesthetic and all of the engineering. When he and Scott destroyed this realm, he would have to ask Scott to spare the buildings in this area so he could study the architecture.
Speaking of Scott, how confident are you that he will remember you?
He will. I can make him remember me.
Fwhip pulled a small device out of his pocket. It resembled a flower bud, and pushing a secret button on the side caused the petals to open, revealing a blue gem at the center. The gem shone with a faint light, a light which would grow brighter the closer it was to whatever it was tracking. Its quarry happened to be a certain cyan haired deity. Fwhip also had one that tracked Gem, and one for each of the other council members. Yes, it was a bit creepy, but Fwhip honestly didn't care.
"Are you finished?"
Gem's voice snapped him out of his thoughts.
"Yeah, almost. How was the math homework?"
Gem collapsed backwards on her bed, fiery hair spread out over the covers.
"It was fine, but seriously, who assigns that much homework for one night?"
Fwhip chuckled, sitting on his own bed.
"Central Empires High apparently."
"Ugh, whatever. I'm going to sleep."
"In your day clothes?"
Gem gave him a look that seemed to say what are you going to do about it? Before pulling the covers over her head. Fwhip smiled at her, heading off the bathroom to get changed. He was not going to sleep in what he wore all day. As he flicked off the light and climbed under his blankets, he allowed himself to relax.
The plan will not fail.
—--------
School was always interesting, not hard, just interesting. The other students were boring for the most part, there were a few who piqued his interest, among them Jimmy and his friend Pearl. Then again, humans in general were very dull and pitiful.
"Fwhip?"
He startled, head snapping up. The teacher was glaring at him.
"Would you care to answer the question?"
Fwhip glanced at the board, internally rolling his eyes.
Too easy.
"x=16"
She blinked at him, not expecting him to know the answer.
"Good job."
Fwhip's eyes focused on Jimmy, who was sitting in the row right in front of him. He noticed a flash of gold in the other boy's pocket. Jimmy shifted uncomfortably, as if he could feel the force of Fwhip's gaze.
He has the medallion, there is no doubt. The question is, what are we going to do about it.
He zoned out for the rest of class, debating with himself the best course of action. He met up with Gem after class, on his way to the lunchroom.
"Any leads on the medallion?"
For a second, Fwhip thought she might have been on to him, but one look revealed no suspicion in his sister's eyes.
"No, nothing yet."
Gem sighed.
"There must be something here, I can feel the magic signature."
She scrunched up her face in concentration. Thankfully, he had taken precautions to blur the trail, so it was unlikely she would trace it to Jimmy. Gem sighed.
"Well, we need something to report to Kathrine."
Fwhip almost feels sorry.
"I'll keep looking, maybe we can find some sort of lead."
"Yeah, Kathrine is kind of scary when she's angry."
Fwhip shuddered at the thought. Kathrine was the one person who even he was scared to cross. Gem brightened beside him.
"Oh! It's JImmy and Pearl!"
Fwhip noticed Pearl waving to them from the table they sat at the other day. Jimmy seemed lost in thought, and Fwhip noticed the glitter of gold around his neck. It was hidden well, but Fwhip knew what to look for, and could find it easily.
Confront him. Offer help.
I can't, it would be suspicious.
Find a way.
Fine. Give me until the end of tomorrow.
Okay.
Fwhip tried to engage in friendly small talk with Jimmy, but he seemed closed off, almost pensive. Fwhip breathed a sigh of relief when the lunch bell rang. Gem was beaming at him as they walked back to their lockers.
"Well look at you! Attempting to socialize! I'm so proud. You didn't even blow anything up this time! Truly, an improvement."
He rolled his eyes.
"Ha ha."
"Sooooo,"
"So what."
"Do you liiike hiiim?"
"No."
My heart belongs to one person, and they are not Jimmy.
"Suuureeee, whatever you saaay."
"You're acting weird."
"Not weirder than you, seriously, you know you can talk to me right?"
"Yeah."
"I may be your partner for this mission, but I'm your sister first."
He turned away from her.
"I'll see you later Gem."
He could feel Gem's concern even without seeing her expression.
"Okay, see you later PR disaster."
He chuckles slightly at that, not bothering to retort.
Once this is over I'll tell you everything.
He caught sight of Jimmy in the hallway.
But right now, I have to catch a thief.
-Just to clarify, Fwhip likes Scott but while Scott appreciates Fwhip's help, he doesn't think of him as anything more than an ally. As I said, this is a flower husbands fic. Hmm... I wonder what Fwhip is up to... (I mean, most of his plans are pretty clear.) Love you all! Have a great day/night! Good! Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!-
