I hear someone coming up the stairs. Without thinking I unlock the door and open it.
"Oh my gosh, (y/n), you look like you've seen a ghost!" My mother walks into the room and looks around. Nothing is out of the ordinary. She turns back to me. "What was that noise?"
I pause, and then mutter, "I think something fell in the attic. It startled me and my chair slipped."
"Oh... okay." My mother turns around without another word and walks down the stairs, muttering about "horrible scraping". As soon as she leaves I close the door and huff a sigh of relief. I turn back to the PC, sitting on my desk innocently. Where did... BEN go? I unconsciously move my hand to where his hand was on my head. I'm going crazy.
Oh! Movie night, that should take my mind off of things. People will start coming in ten minutes, good good. Just forget it ever happened.
"Heyyy (y/n)! Excited for movie night?" Jasmine, one of the more popular girls at school, and one of the people who consider me a friend, is the first to arrive with the homemade guacamole.
"Yes, I am. Thank you for coming." I open the door for her and she walks in, hopping up and down and looking excited. "What's got you so happy?" I ask, leading her to the couch.
Jasmine places the bowl on the table and turns to me, eyes sparkling. "Evan's coming!"
"Taney's twin brother?"
"Yep! Word on the street is that he thinks you're a treat." She says the last sentence in a mocking voice.
I've never really had much interest in crushes or dating. It all just seems unnecessary so early on, and it's another case of me not really liking anyone I've met. I'm appreciative of my friends, sure, but I'd rather not get into things like that.
I remember what happened not even an hour ago. Maybe a little mindless fun will be good.
