9 - A Bloody Thank You
The house was barely functional, everyone gathered the enemies who were still alive into a secluded part of the bunker whilst the 'civilians' of the group were up in the main area, still in distraught. Donghae was sitting on the couch, holding his hands together as he was unable to comprehend what he did, looking at his hands, remembering the scene clearly.
Donghae had gotten pushed off the door, letting the men in, ready to kill him when his body reacted out of defense, shooting the guy on the chest, making the rest alarmed, trying to get him up as the doctor was in distraught, letting go of the gun as he saw the blood sputters that had spewed onto him. Kibum had snapped out of his shock, seeing the other men trying to save their boss when he saw red, gently grabbing the gun from the other hand, shooting the remaining bullets to the two.
As he snapped out of it, he was surprised by Eunhyuk holding the back of his hands, knelt down to his level, gently pressing them as Donghae felt scared. "H-Hyukjae..." he felt tears fall from his eyes, shaking as he was in disbelief of what he'd done. "H-Hyukjae--I killed s-someone..." He uttered in a cracked voice, sobbing as he felt scared, shutting his eyes, making Eunhyuk look at him with worry.
Eunhyuk held their hands together, trying to calm him down. "Hae. Look at me--" the latter looked down instead, scared as the latter gently tugged Donghae's hand close to his chest. "Hae, please..." he called as the latter slowly looked up to him, his eyes still brimming with tears. "You didn't do anything wrong." "How can you be so sure, you've killed more than I've saved." Donghae's thoughts said out loud, guilty and scared of what would happen to him. "If you hadn't done what you did, then you'll be in his place... and he wouldn't have felt any remorse..." Eunhyuk felt his heart tighten at the thought of losing him. "You tried to protect yourself... had it been anyone, they would've picked your decision to save their lives..." he gently reached for his face, wiping the tears off as Donghae was calming down, but still in a daze.

The room that belonged to Kibum shared a distant air, Siwon staring at the figure with concern, the younger one staring at the wall. "Did you know..." he let out an exasperated breath, making Siwon confused at first, but then realized what he meant. "You mean the rest being in a mafia organization? N-no... I only found out when we were transferred here." Siwon stated as Kibum looked down.
"Oh... so only I was left out?" "Kibum, have a bit more trust than us that we were only doing this to protect you." Siwon felt his eyes widen when the male turned to him, eyes red with tears as he looked at him with disappointment, the gentle male he came to meet in the hospital gown was nowhere to be seen.
Kibum's eyes stared at him with anger. "And you still didn't tell me...? You chose to lie... Were you hoping to tell me when the situation was very dangerous?" Siwon was at a loss of words, unable to deny nor answer any of his questions. "I expected someone to betray me... but not you--the person I love." The words filled with pain and betrayal made Siwon feel his heart crumble as the door burst open with Heechul entering since he was worried when he heard from Sungmin the two hadn't gone out. He was met with his younger brother's fierce gaze, making him stand by Siwon, sensing tensions high in the room.
"Hyung, why..." Heechul heard the disappointment in his voice as Kibum broke into tears again. "Why are you still here in that organization? Why?!" He burst as he threw the nearby vase to the two, Heechul the only one not flinching by it shattering. "Why did you hide this from me?! Why'd you make me believe in a life I thought I had?!--" "Kibum, we didn't have a choice!" Heechul's loud tone shut him up as he gazed to his brother, seeing the reddish eyes present on his slightly bruised face.
Heechul pressed his lips together, moving his hand to tug his hair in distress. "We had no choice... if we stayed as normal citizens--do you think we would live?" Heechul glared at him, the two younger males feeling scared at his gaze. "Do you have any idea how much we fucking had to struggle to keep you safe? No thanks to our mother who fucked with a mafia leader--she left this family for dead. And if we stayed out this shitty life, we'd all be used as leverage for him and he won't even care!"
The words held venom as Kibum saw Heechul heave a breath, messing his hair up. "We had lied so much... ignored our own scars to ensure that we don't die from them... and now that you know, I was hoping for you to try and understand--but you chose to see the bad side like you did back then." He stated as Kibum's eyes widened, recalling his act of running away that nearly caused his life.
Kibum felt his chest tighten, emotions burning out as he tried to go close to his hyung to say sorry, to let him know he was wrong. "Don't.." he said with an icy tone, Kibum shocked as he felt his brother drawing a line that he may never cross. "And now. We are losing Shindong because we made a flaw..." his hand balled into a fist before he turned to the door. "We are biological brothers... but after all this, you can live the life you so called wanted... you didn't need us after all." He went out as Kibum felt the burden in his shoulder weigh him down, making him weep.
His body fell to the floor as Siwon caught him. "Hyung... I am so sorry..." Siwon huddled him close, letting the younger tightly hug him. "It's okay. You had a reason to be mad too. No one wanted for this to happen--" "but I made a mistake again... it was me again..." Kibum wept as he recalled how much Heechul did for him to be safe, how Shindong helped him out, that when his sickness worsen his brothers were there for him while he couldn't do the same.

Heechul had gone down to the chambers, seeing some men dead as Leeteuk approached him, blood on his body. "Leo, doesn't know if Kibum's alive. He is back at Seoul--" he paused at the sight, feeling the gaze amounting to so much emotion. Heechul stared at him as a single tear fell from his eye, lips quivering as Leeteuk held his shoulder. "Heechul? You with me?" He tried to set the younger back into proper shape.
But he knew his efforts were futile as he knew Heechul like no one else. The younger was in a dazed state as his emotions were showing clearly. "Teuk-ah. Kibum... and I got into an argument." He uttered emotionlessly, but his eyes showing a tears fall like rain told the older enough of how serious the situation was.
He gently held his face, wiping the tears off as Heechul felt his hard exterior falling. "Come on, tell me... and if not, just stay here." Heechul huddled into the touch, holding his hand atop the other. "This was coming... I knew you'd expected him to know at some point, but you should realize that this is a lot to comprehend." Leeteuk soothingly said as the pretty male looked down, knowing the older man was right. "Kibum was exposed to drugs at the age of 13 thinking that he was being cured of a sickness he originally didn't have. He thought you and Donghee were bad since you took him away from your mother until he realized she was the real problem." The memories come out faster than the younger anticipated.
"Hell you were nearly raped by your stepfather, Donghee was almost sold to slavery all because of her drugs. Now, Kibum was lied to and didn't know how bad the situation was. So don't hold too much on him--because we also made a dishonest move even when it was done to protect him." Heechul cried into his grasp, the reality feeling heavy. "Jungsoo... the truth is too painful..." he looked lost to the older man who gave a gentle smile. "When was it not? Isn't that why we agreed that lies are easy to say and believe in?" The older leaned close to plant a kiss on his forehead.
Moving back a bit with a slightly serious expression. "Now you need to pull yourself together. Kibum will understand. And Shindong needs us--especially you--to help him." Leeteuk said as Heechul gave a small smile. "Why is it that you always know what to say when something like this comes up..." he moved, still holding onto Leeteuk's hand, wiping his tears with his free hand. "If we need to save my brother... we better decide on a shortcut." Heechul uttered as the older nodded, moving inside the torture room, seeing Sungmin and Kyuhyun interrogating a guy tied to a seat.
"Gentlemen. Time for work."
