~ Keefe ~

I stare, amused, at my best friend Fitz and his little sister Biana. They always argue about something stupid, like whether gold, (like a chandelier, Fitz apparently had to specify), or black is better.

Personally, I like gold better.

My face softens. Gold..like the color of my childhood bestfriend's eyes.

I had to move when we were little, moving out of Havenfield to Candleshade because of the rivalry of our fathers.

We made a promise to never forget each other.

I still remember.

But I don't know if she does too.

"Keefe? Keefe! KEEFE!"

Biana slaps my cheek, leaving a red handprint-like mark.

"WHAT?!" I yell back, rubbing where she'd hit me. Damn, she hit hard.

Biana immediately smiles, pleased that I'm talking to her. I inwardly sigh. Biana has a huuuugggee crush on me, but I just don't like her that way.

Though I have seen her going out with a certain black-haired boy with silver-tips recently...

"So, are you going to the Celestial Ball?" Biana interrupts my thoughts, batting her eyes at me excitedly. "Do you have a date, perhaps?"

"Actually, I do," I say without thinking.

Biana and Fitz both stare at me in shock.

Sure, I'm a prince and have plenty of girls ogling over me, but I've never actually had a relationship with any before.

"Well," Biana said somewhat angrily, "What's her name then?"

I cringed inwardly.

Great.

Now I have to tell them that I don't have a date.

'Or..maybe not..' a small voice says in the back of my mind.

Still not thinking, I blurted out the first name that comes to mind.

"Princess Sophie Elizabeth Foster."
