~ Sophie ~

"Soph?" Jolie pokes her head into her bedroom, eyes locking on Sophie's shaking figure. "Oh Sophie, come here."

She steps into the room and opens her arms, an invitation Sophie gladly takes.

"How much did you hear?" she whispers between sobs.

"Enough," Jolie tells her. "Sophie, listen to me. You have to convince Mother and Father not to let you marry Prince Fitz."

Sophie shakes her head. "But they'll never understand. You know that."

"They will if it's about your happiness," Jolie argues, pulling away slightly to look her in the eye. "Don't follow my footsteps. Don't ignore your feelings like I did."

"What do you mean?"

Jolie sighs, her eyes slightly watery. "Prince Elrin is amazing, but..my heart belongs to another. A villager. He's a very talented blacksmith and extremely sweet. But..I was so scared of what Mother and Father would think of me marrying him that I ended it."

"Oh Jolie," Sophie says, hugging her sister. She had no idea.

Jolie smiles slightly at her sister. "His name was Brant. Such a handsome fellow, too. Of course, he's probably married off to some other girl and has completely forgotten about me. But this is why I want you to go talk to Mother and Father. Don't be afraid, like I was. Like I am."

Sophie laughs softly. "Why does this feel so much like a therapy session?"

Jolie shrugs. "I don't know, but I would make a great therapist, don't you think?"

"Sure. While we're at it, I could probably be a great nature-speaker," Sophie jokes.

"Don't ever say that again, sis," Jolie says. "I'll leave you to it."
